Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I have bought several of these speakers. A couple of them got a little wet on a patio, although not drenched. They aren't working now. Is there anything I can do to repair them? Since one of them still works, I would like to fix them so they all aork with the same transmitter. Also, they should work with both batteries and regular plug, but one only works with AC plug, not batteries...any suggestions? I also have a Conair hair dryer that just quit working for no apparent reason. Since it was, by far, the shortest lifespan of any home appliance I've ever had, I wondered if there is a simple thing that I am overlooking. Thanks so much for your help!!

ONCE THE SPEAKER CONE IS DAMAGED BY WATER IT WARPS THE SPECIAL PAPER THEY USE AND THE SPEAKER CAN'T VIBRATE AS THE VOICE COIL IS ENERGIZED TO MOVE THE CONE IN AND OUT, SORRY BUT THESE ARE RUINED, iN THE FUTURE ONLY BUY SPECIAL SPEAKERS THAT HAVE WATER PROOF LAMINATED PLASTIC CONES DESIGNED FOR OUTDOOR USE. I HAVE BEEN DOING THIS 35 YEARS AND KNOW THIS INFORMATION IS 100% CORRECT.

look if the cones are damaged the speakers are ruined, there is no repair, yes they can be re-coned but that will cost at least double what the speakers cost to buy new and is not something u can do at home, requires special tools and materials, know that for sure. sorry for the bad news but these are done.

The display shows the message open/close door. I've noted that the light inside doesn't always come on. Is this common? This unit is only a little over a year and old.

Locate the door switch, it will be inside the door frame somewhere, a little black thing you can push in with your thumb. You need to drench it in WD40 and push it lots of times. Then it should work reliably.

Volume decrease button does not work; speaker stuck at highest volume

perhaps a bit of isopropyl alcohol and a q tip swab can solve the problem. using 91% isopropyl alcohol, dab a swab in the alcolhol and swab the alcohol onto the switch. the idea is to get a little alcohol into the switch but not too much. don't want to drench the electronics, just work a little alcohol down into the switch to try to clean it. try working the switch alternating with a little more alcohol. don't put too much alcohol. allow time for excess to dry if you think you got too much into the unit.

My brand new patio heater wont turn on

To get your patio heater to light first check the tank has plenty of LPG/gas and the regulator is turned to on. Next turn the gas control knob to pilot (on some heaters this is a red line on others it has a spark symbol) and press in - hold for at least 30 secs. Press the piezo ignitor several times and continue to hold for another 60 secs. Gently ease off the pilot to release and turn to full power. You should hear the gas jet come on. If there is air in the pipes you might have to repeat. Fould this site very useful patio heater top repair tips.

Speakers connected but no sound

A couple different problems are possible. Either the wiring is old and has been stored in a way that damaged the signal it carries, they aren't connected completely. I'd suggest (while the speaker is unplugged) taking the wire and stripping the plastic back a little more. Then pull the two wires apart so that they're a little stiffer and easier to push into the connection in the stereo.

Our rear speakers aren't working properly.

Well that proves the hardware works. Crack the manual for the unspecified model and see why the source selected or the sound mode selected don't utilize those speakers.

Our patio heater ignition lights but when you let go of the button the pilot light does not stay on. Have tried blowing out entire workings with an airline and put back together still same problem.

Since cleaning the heaters inner workings did resolve the problem, that leaves only one other thin ... The Thermocouple has failed and needs to be replaced. It's not difficult to do, but does a take a little time and patience. Since you didn't mention what brand and model number heater you have, it's hard to direct you to where to purchase the replacement thermocouple. However, Blue Rhino manufactures most of the Patio Heaters under several different names and models, that's the place to start. Their Customer Support number is 1.800.762.1142.

Hope this helped to solve the problem.

Hook up patio speakers and use my cd/dvd/cable/ipod outside only

i'm not sure if this will work, but you could try connecting the rca stereo cables from you cable box to the cd input on the receiver those would be analog. then you could use the music channels at least. as for an ipod maybe sort of the same thing using an av cable instead of the dock;like i said i don't know if it will work but just a thought.

Probably a shorted amp. Turn it on with no speakers hooked up, if it still says check speakers,it will need service (output transistors and a couple of resistors) A few times I've seen them only need soldering of an emmittor resistor.
