Just bought the Cabriofix. Went home and got upset when the straps wouldn't lengthen. As an excited father I tried to keep calm as I tried and tried and tried again. Good ols Google, put the car seat down and jumped on the net to find a solution. 2 minutes later and hey presto.......the grey button that you press HAS to be pressed FULLY IN. Not just press as it easily does, but with a lot of pressure it will sink in another 5mm or so then this releases the straps. So I'm again happy :-) and pleased with my purchase. Now just got to wait 4 more moths till baby is here. Can't wait !!! Oh and ladies, you might want to trim your thumb nail or you won't be able to press the button fully in, sorry :-(

Hope this helps you all though, and good luck all.

Replace broken belt asap, you will have to release the tensioning pully whell then adjust to get correct tension, normally needs 1/2" of up down movement on longest side of fitted belt.

Replace serpentine belt

Removal & Installation

  1. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the drive belt.
WARNING Never suddenly let go of the tensioned idler pulley. The force of the spring pressure suddenly released may damage the idler pulley mechanism. Always release the spring pressure gradually.

To install:
  1. Route the belt over the pulleys making sure all the grooves in the pulleys and the belt line up correctly. Refer to the accessory belt routing section of this manual.
  2. Rotate belt tensioner clockwise and slip drive belt over idler pulley on tensioner.

If for any reason, the tensioner is crooked, replace it!!! Also, install the belt with the writing facing you like you are trying to read a book. This WILL (a trick I learned at Mercedes) prevent even a new belt from squeeling!!

Straps on back of carseat seem to be put together incorrectly

Those go a certain way and no other. For future reference the way to remove the belts is to release the metal oval under the seat and bring it up thru the holes in the bottom of te seat, then out thru the back. You have to undo the clasp and chest snap. Now....you have quite a problem as the straps are responsible for saving a life in the event of a motor vehicle accident. This being said you can try and slip the doubled over ends thru the end that is most narrow, slides into the track and the wider part snaps over the keeper on the seat itself, a little snapping plastic button. Next it goes under the lockdown and up into the first hole. You will need to compress the adjuster of the locking mechanism to get it up thru. If you can do this the next step is down thru and out the end of the locking mechanism. If the holes are too bound up and wont let the end of the belt thru, you may need to cut off the very end and re-thread it, then fold over the material and resew the end over itself to reform the stop. Cutting a belt is a last resort so make sure you are careful and that it is working properly. Otherwise, go buy a new seat. Good luck

How do I asjust the serpentine belt on a 2005 ford freestar?

It should not require any adjustment. the right tension is provided by the idler pully. If you want to release the tension for serpentine removal or examination release the tension on the idler pulley in the rear of the motor, spin the nut in the center like you were tightening, and the pressure will be released from the serpentine belt. Reversely, the appropriate tension will be given using the same way when the strap is reinstalled.

Ho to replace serpentine belt. cant find anything

There probably won't be any adjustments. Serpentine Belts have be used for 25 or 26 years to my memory ,and have spring loaded tensioners to keep belt tight. So I quess your new to the car world. You release the tension with a long 1/2" Drive ratchet or tool specific for belt replacement. If you need to buy any tools you don't have, your better off leaving it to the pros

Isuzu Trooper V6 2001 multi rib belt adjustment

First, if you're serious about car repair, get the shop manual (helminc.com). Not cheap, but cheaper than ruining your engine.

Second, unless you are confident in your mechanical abilities and / or are willing to use your vehicle as training, leave major work to the pros. A good mechanic is like gold, and just as hard to find.

Third, you don't really adjust the tension. There is a spring-loaded idler that puts just the right amount of tension on the belt. Using the proper tool, you lever the idler to take the tension out and slip the belt off the other pullies. Then take the new belt and rout it just like the old one, lever the idler again, then slowly release it back against the belt to take out the slack.

Piece of cake...
