Question about PC Desktops

My monitor is not working at all. This is the second monitor I have had that I have purchased from Best Buy in a matter of eighteen months. I am very frustrated. What do I need to do to get this issue resolved. I called Best Buy and absolutely got nowhere with them. They said they can send it off and get it fixed and have it returned in four to six weeks. I pay my bills online and this is not acceptable!!!!!

You need to go over their heads and call Best Buy Corporate.

This is what I had to do to get anything done with a defective Ipod, all because the knucklehead at the store didn't switch the extended warranty over to the new unit.

Trying to deal with the dozen or so "managers" at Best Buy is a complete waste of time.

This is the number I used, but i'm unsure of their office hours.:

1-888-237-8289

choose option 1 (if you want english)

Then choose option 2 to speak to a person who will direct your call.

Tell the person you want to speak with 'customer care' regarding multiple problems and replacements with a product, and getting the "run around" from the store employees.

Be sure to have the store telephone number, and / or address / store number, as well as any 'managers' names you spoke too handy, as they will ask.

Also have any and all sales / exchange receipts.

Tell them your story, you will be surprised at how far it gets you. The guy I spoke was so appalled at how I (and himself when he called the store on 3 way) was treated, that not only did he personally issue a credit in my name at the local store to get a new ipod, but he sent me a gift card in the mail for the total value of the Ipod. I'm pretty sure someone at that store got fired too...

Good luck, and try to refrain from flipping out on the guy on the other end, he's there to help!

Hello,

that the problem with an online store, they can hardly cater the support on their product. You know if you try to fix that problem you can do but you need tester to test the blownout parts. maybe that only a matter of fuse busted. in that case i will suggest you to see service tech in your area so that the monitor will be troublshoot thoroughly. melnavz

Can a second monitor be attached without having to buy any other?

If you buy another graphics card and it has this feature, you can do it.

Disable the old on board graphics card first.

Look for the appropriate VESA, PCI, or PCI-Express interface in your manual available online, and make sure the new graphics card works with your motherboard.

Clean up your Monitor Connection and it's Multi Pin Plug in as well. It is best if you were to purchase a Can of compressed air to clean your computer in any form not a brush!!! I blow all my PCs out once a Month. I have 4 cans on hand right now!! You should not have any problem in doing this. The only other thing is that you have a bad connection for your Monitor on your Tower. Not Likely though. Just look and make sure that non of the Pins are broken or bent. Please Let Me Know!!!! Best of Luck!!

What is the bust buy for computer assistance>

Cheapest is simply post the problems you are having in the free section. Time is money though.

Best buy would be simply hire someone capable of preventing problems and fixing the ones that do come up to work in your IT department.

Most likely your video card is broken. To check if the motherboard isnt broken either, I would suggest you test usb, sound, and other features of the motherboard.
If your motherboard isnt broken then you have to buy a "pci-e graphics card" at your local store. Shouldnt cost much, about $40-70. Hope that helps.

Monitors wont work

It appears that you have a faulty graphics card.
If the graphics card is integrated with the motherboard then it cannot be repaired. Just purchase a new AGP graphics card, insert it into the AGP slot and connect your monitor to this card.
You may need to go to the BIOS setup to disable the on-board graphics card.
If you don't have an integrated graphics card, then buy a replacement graphics card.
You will need to install the new graphics drivers after installing the graphics card.

Monitor flashing from normal to black

If this is a lcd monitor, sounds like your back lamp is going out. check to see if you can see your desktop by looking at different sharp angles from above the monitor and if you can barely make out your desktop icons. If it is the back lamp, I am sorry to say it will be expensive to replace (I had the same problem myself and it was just cheaper to replace the monitor).

I received a X2gen monitor , model MG19E, from Best Buy warranty service. This monitor was replacement for a previous monitor that went out. I only had the X2gen monitor for just a few months and now it...

It depends. When a company replaces a component that is in warranty with another component, the only warranty that transfers is the remainder of the warranty on the original product. So if I had a monitor with a three year warranty, and it stopped working after 2 years and 11 months, the company replaces it with a brand new monitor. That brand new monitor will only carry a one month warranty because that's all the warranty you had left.

That being said, make sure you let BB know that this was a replacement monitor for one that was under warranty. They may need the original monitor's specifications to look it up for you.
