Question about U-Line Icemaker

Open Question

I have a marine U-Line ice maker that had the condenser fan replaced at the end of the 2009 boating season - the unit worked at that time. The boat was put up for the winter and the ice maker does not work now that it's out of storage. The condenser fins are clean. It starts and runs for 1 - 2 minutes and then shuts down. After it's been off for about 10 minutes, I try it again with the same results. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: u line ice maker on boat

If this is a stand alone icemaker. Is the unit running? If not check the icemaker ejector blades to make sure that its pointing at 12 oclock. If not then you need to take the cover off the icemaker and turn the smaller gear counter clockwise.(remove cover by gently prying on the inside corners and pull at the same time) Turning it counter clockwise will turn the ejector blade. Once you get it to 12 the plug the unit in and turn on. Compressor and fan should come on. If the unit is running then make sure the fan is operating. Yes then is the compressor on? Yes > then you have a sealed system problem. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Ice makers need refrigerant just like freezers and if it get too low it will quit working and probably burn itself out .call a refrigeration repair person and ask them to check it out .

Jabsco toilet fails to fill

Was the toilet "Winterized" last fall? If so, have you assured that any plug in the clean water intake has been removed? If NOT -- are you sure the pump has not been frozen and internally damaged by ice? The pump is a simple device which rarely fail unless its inlet is blocked, or the pump seals or body are damaged - usually by freezing.

This really sounds like a wiring problem. I would start from scratch, seeing as how it will be difficult to find the issue you describe. Also, if you can, solder your connections to the radio. If you used crimp butts they may not have been tight enough and vibrated loose with use of the boat. Hope this helps

as the fridge gets older the gas gets less efficient so regasing the unit may work, but, due to its age, you may find replacement more cost effective...and more efficient.

Try West Marine. They have lots of boat parts. I found one link for sealant:

If this isn't what you're looking for, search from their home page.
You can also look up you boat maker's website and get their recommendations.
