Question about Dishwashers

2 Answers

My Diplomat Dishwasher has had the "In Progress" light on for about a week and as a result it will not let me put a load of dishes on to wash. Turning it off at the wall does not help.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. There is a reset button on the bottom left hand side of your Dishwasher. You’ll need to unplug the unit and then under the door on the bottom left hand side, when you take the panel off, you’ll see a timer button which you should rotate manually clockwise so that the unit works. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

I never said side panel, I said its the bottom left hand side which means you need to check at the bottom.

I unscrewed the panel and turned the orange knob which requires a 6-pointed star-shaped key. The machine made some noise and stopped again. I cannot get it to do a full cycle however. It still has the "In Progress" light on.

Put dirty stuff in will eventually keep a tech like me very busy. We love to come and charge you alot for cleaning your dishwasher. Remember the Maytag commercials where they put a cake in it? Still got the dishes clean but before long it will cost you big time. Just run everything under the tap. Pot and pans should be lightly washed also. Watch how you place the dishes. Most dishwashers spray up from the bottom. Block it, and the spray will not reach the top.

When we open dishwasher theres standing water in the drain area and it smells bad this is after washing aload dishs look clean but inside stinks

After you run a load of dishes put 1cup of CLR or vinegar (white) and run a quick wash.no dishes, after running dishes clean out spray arm and clean strainer, use a rinse agent like finish, and spray off dishes before loading.About 35yrs. ago I use to be a dishwasher as one of my first job's and if you did'nt spray the dishes and scrap them off before loading, the dishes would not come out clean,And after each shift the dish washer would be cleaned out.

Frigidaire Dishwasher problem

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher2_bing.gif filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

The most common cause for no washing is a failed wash pump motor. Which is probably the single most expensive part to have replaced on a dishwasher.

Mold growing on dishes

Recommend that you run another cycle with no DW soap aded, waiting until the dishwasher has filled with hot water and begins to do the first wash cycle. Then add 1/2 cup of bleach to the water and close the door. Allow the cycle to finish. Run it normally with a standard load of dirty dishes. Note: These high efficiency dishwashers count on the "dirt" of the dirty dishes to help wash/clean the dishes. Recommend you not rinse/wash the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher.

Watch for any occurrence of the black dots and repeat the bleach treatment.

DIPLOMAT DISHWASHER FILLS AND EMPTIES WITH NO PROBLEM BUT.... THE WASHER ARMS WILL NOT TURN AS NO WATER IS GETTING TO THE ARMS TO WASH THE DISHES ANDBODY GIVE ME ANY HELP PLEASE

If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

Also, There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

Check the manifold as well for clogs.

Another spot will be a malfunctioning wash impeller. i would inspect the wash impeller as well. it is responsible for the flow or water during the wash.

Maytag dishwasher quiet series 400. Dishes have hard stuck on grit and food particles after rinsed and dried.

Very common problem is soap build up in these machines. Try putting it into a wash cycle with no dishes, and no soap. Let it wash for about 5 minutes, and then open the door. If you see alot of soap suds, then soap build up is the problem. Try doing a couple loads with no soap, and no dishes, and throw a cup of vinegar into the machine halfway through the wash. Repeat as necessary. This should solve your problem.
