The open/close door will not open

It sounds like your DVD is not getting any power to it. When you press the eject button does it show a power light for a second and then not move ? Also it is possible that some other DVD could have been in it and now it is blocking the door to open, look carefully at the door there should be a very small round hole on it you can use a paper clip straightened out to make a probe and insert it in the little hole and push you will have to push firmly and it should open the drawer. It won't play for one of two reasons:
1. There is something inside the DVD player, which keeps it from playing.
2. The DVD player's battery has run out of juice and can no longer play, meaning the player needs to be replaced.

If the door does not close either something ( a coin or anything) got inside or there is a issue with the mechanism= alignment or possible bad part in that mechanism that loads and positions the disc.

A suggestion when door opens try to take a quick look inside with a flashlight to see what you can.

hold on to open boton but it might take a while to open or the rubber that open and close the door is little bit slack that why its giving that type of prob, try and change it .

It sees the lid as being open. The lid has a projection from it that pushes a door switch when it is closed. Is this piece broken off ? or the switch is defective....

there is a switch connected to the dvd door you should see a pin hole in the casing, a pin on the door pushes this down to say the lid is closed they are common to brake off and then the dvd play does not know the door is shut. this video should help you locate the switch https://youtu.be/ucNedtR256g

open the door then unplug the unit remove the cover then remove the DVD

leaf switch is defect. It tells if the door is closed or open. not very expensive, thing is to try to find it. usually two wires. good luck

It is called the slider assy. The slider moves the laser assy back to home or start position. It is a small belt underneath or there is gunk or hair in the gear mechanism. A very common problem with CD/DVD players/recorders. Very good though that you saw it was not comming back to home place. I wish I had a manual to assist you but I do not. Im telling you the most common problems with the slider mechanism. Good Lck
