Hello,

Most self clean cycles take 4 hrs.The oven is gradually heated up to 950 degrees F which takes up to 1 hr and after the 4 hrs is up it takes some time for the oven to cool down before the door will unlatch at below 550 degrees.

Take care

Can I cook on my stove burners while my oven is cleaning?

Yes, you can. The self-cleaning option is just like a regular baking or broiling just at a much higher degree. Overall we advise against self-cleaning because the switch on the door lock mechanism can fail quite easily when using the self-cleaning option.

How do I use the steam clean self-cleaning oven?

The SteamClean option spot cleans the oven in 20 minutes and is recommended for cleaning light spills on the bottom of the oven cavity. When used routinely, the SteamClean option reduces the need for frequent self-clean cycle use. To use the SteamClean option, pour 12 ounces (1 1/2 cup) of water into the bottom of the oven cavity, close the oven door and push the SteamClean button. At the end of the cycle, consumers wipe out the bottom of the oven, easily removing oven soils. The steam cleaning option is eco-friendly and does not require frequent use of the self-clean cycle, which can create a strong odor. Read this in a post about the new whirlpool ranges
