Question about Pentax Optio S6 Digital Camera
I have a Pentax Optio S6 Digital Camera that receives a large amount of use. I take good care of it and its never been dropped, left in extreme heat, got wet etc etc... But i seem to be getting this same problem rather often.
When i turn my camera on it makes a rather unusual "buzzing" noise, this noise is even louder if digital zoom is enabled. When i try to zoom in the camera starts taking very blurry images(changing the settings has no effect) and every-time i adjust how much ive zoom in on a image it makes that unusual "buzzing" noise again.
Ive experienced this problem previously and have taken the camera in to get it "fixed". It comes back working fine. However after a while the same problem suddenly re-occurs. This is the 4th time this problem has occurred. Any assistance any one could provide would be greatly appreciated.
I had exactly the same problem just this week. After reading every problem posted that had to do with the lense I figured that the lense had somehow worked it's way of the "track or gear" that moves it in and out. I don't recommend this solution unless you figure that the cost of having it repaired proffesionally would be more than to replace the camera (I am a trial and error type of repair person). On my camera, also an S6, when the lense came forward and began to retract, I GENTLY held the lense in place for just a second. I repeated this probably four or five times until it "worked itself" back into the proper position. It does make the clicking noise while doing this which made me a bit nervous but it worked. The camera actually even seems to be focusing better which leads me to believe that possibly it hadn't been quite right for a while. AGAIN... you have to decide if the cost of proffessional repair is worth it to you. I am not a pro but this worked GREAT for me. Hope it helps.

Here is the information on the lens system for the Pentax...
The Sliding Lens system is a proprietary PENTAX lens system that offsets the central lens groups from the optical lens axis and retracts the lens in two steps in the cylinder for minimized overall body depth.
I think from what you have stated, the lens system is off track, hense the noise and the blurry image...
Hope this is helpful...
