Question about Refrigerators

Whirlpool gold gs6nbexrl00-- The ice dispenser motor will not dispense ice any longer. It did dispense occasionally if I would tap the door but now it doesn't do anything. I am out of warranty period so any simple repair I must do myself. By tapping the door to get the motor to work makes me believe that there is a short in the wiring somewhere inside the door. I have thought abought taking the door apart to investigate but I wanted some advice first. Can you help???

The first response was quick but not on the correct topic (possibly a canned narrative). Please advise on corrective action to correct the dispenser motor issue.

It is a good idea to open up the door and check the wiring of the motor. Most likely one of the wires came loose.

Valeantudor, no disrespect intended… but are you a pc tech support person or a refrigerator tech support person. Firstly, there have been many posts regarding this issue on many forums besides this one as just a small amount of research would have revealed. This problem is not as simple as a loose wire at the motor as suggested. Many forums indicate that the freezer door has been changed out, motors replaced, circuit boards replaced and still without an exact resolution. Guys, before you weigh in with mere guesses or suggestions, please do your research and only respond if you have had this model refrigerator before or you are a qualified refrigerator serviceperson who has experienced this trouble.

Hi, evaporator may need to be cleaned with a nickel safe - phosphoric and /or citric acid cleaner. Scale build-up on evaporator from water constantly flowing across it will prevent the sheet of ice from releasing. A mild scotch-brite cleaning pad with mild force to remove scale from the evaporator may also work. Follow up by running clean cycle to remove all dirt and contaminants from ice collection compartment.

Take care

Maybe I didn't specify enough my problem. I am referring to the dispensing motor that turns the rotary blades and makes the ice exit the refrigerator door into a glass. It seems you are referring to the "Icemaker assembly" which is a different issue than what I am referring to.

No Power to Ice and Water dispenser

You will have to take the door apart but there should be a power source going into the door, I would check to make sure there is power there first. After that I would check to make sure the power source is connected to the door switches. If it is I would look at replacing the board which may be faulty. Parts can be ordered by calling the manufacturer or any appliance sales store. Good luck

How do you get inside the freezer door of a whirlpool gold gs6nbexrl00 to remove the ice dispenser motor?

  • Underneath one of the door shelves is a plastic place secured by screws. Remove the screws and you will see the motor covering.

My Whirlpool Gold side-by-side refrigerator GS6NVEXSL00 wont give me the ice out the door. It makes ice, but when I press the button on the door nothing happens. Seems like the button went out. HELP!

Does the water dispenser work? Is there a light at the dispenser panel, does it light? Do you hear any noises or motors running when you actuate ice dispenser? You could have a power issue for the dispenser. Some newer whirlpool models have an issue with the wiring leading into the door at bottom being so securley fastened to frame, the lack of movement forces the wires to bend, and in time break, with door usage. If water dispenser works, and you hear no sounds when the ice lever is actuated, then you have a problem with the dispenser panel circuit board. if water works and you hear some sounds when ice lever is actuated, such as a loud popping noise, then you have a bad ice dispenser auger motor, not churning the ice out of the bucket.

Our whirlpool gold ultra eaze refrigerator is not making ice or dispensing water..what could be the problem?

I would check your water supply to the refrigerator if it has a self tapping saddle valve it may be clogged or the tubing might be kinked.

Whirlpool Gold Side By Side Ice Dispenser Problems

Instead of what you think the sound is, try and see what is happening when you actuate the ice lever. open freezer door, depress the door light switch, or tape it closed. now actuate the ice dispenser lever, does the flapping door open, that which opens to allow ice from bucket into your glass? Now look at the bucket itself, do you see the gears rotating? remove the bucket from the door, and repeat, do you see the auger shaft rotating?

Either of these are a complex repair, one I would not recommend DIYers to try on their own, for they require taking the door apart, and if not done right, your door may not close properly. Normally I have no problem advising a repair, but there are some i dont, this icemaker system, and compressors.

Ice maker will not dispense the ice

When you press the lever to dispense the ice, there are multiple switches being activated. Chances are, the one that moves the motor to turn out the ice is bad. Or that motor itself is bad.
