Philips 60PP935217 60 in. Rear

My philips 60" rear projection turns itself off after 3-4 seconds of powering up. The picture never actually comes on, it is just a blank screen and then it shuts itself off

Hey did you ever find out what actually happened? I have the exact same problem. Though it used to turn on fully after about 3 times of turning the tv on. Now it wont power on at all. it just clicks and turns off. Any suggestions. Thanks guys.

seems there are some faulty or failed components in your set.

The mainboard or the powerboard might need to be replaced or some convergence ic chips / capasitors / resistors.

Unless you are willing todo that, I think the best solution is to take it in for service. Maybe another expert will have more exact knowledge on this problem?

My tv, when plugged in just keeps turning itself on and off in intervals of about 3 seconds. It doesn't give time for anything to come up on the screen at all.

Problem is in standby power supply or microprocessor area---not the do it yourself repair and likely not economical to repair due to age and brand of set.

could be a number of things....check for bad solder connections on circuit board around Flyback xformer and also check connections on conversion module for colour problems....double images red , blue , green popping in and out.

Try resoldering the vertical output IC have seen many of this model have hairline cracks on the vertical IC solder joints causing blanking of the CRTs while audio still worked.
