Hi, You could have knocked the printhead loose. There is a lever next to the printwheel which moves the printhead back to release the wheel. Try releasing it and take the printwheel out. Put it back in and push the printhead forward so that it locks into place. Turn the machine back on and hopefully it is ok. Ralph, Dial A Ribbon.

When i try to type the typewriter is punching in different letters than the ones I pressed. How do I fix that?

Check the pitch selector switch.(L. side of keyboard) It should be in 10 or 12 not in PS, slide it up and down a few times they do get dirty.

I just purchased a 1923 royal typewriter from ebay - the big kind with glass sides. It was supposed to be in excellent working condition, however upon arrival the space bar doesn't move the typewriter...

Evidently your typewriter got damaged in shipping. The problem you describe could be caused by any one of a dozen things. It would be virtually impossible to diagnose the problem without looking at it personally. I wish I could help you.

Typing wrong letters on Brother SX-4000

Try hitting [CODE] + [RESET] at the same time to reset the cartridge. Make sure the cassette is installed correctly.. the "ear" on the cassette should always be on the upper right.

Not printing dash- and period.

First be sure the blue damper is on properly. The thinner side with the notch cut in it should be to the back of the machine with the notch down in the lower part of the left side of the yoke.
If that is right be sure the ribbon is fully latched down, then try a little light oil on the print solenoid they do grt gummy.

There is a clutch drive that releases the hammer to strike. Probably needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, probably not worth repairing.

Only typing half letters and numbers

On the WheelWriter series, sometimes the platen may pop out of position, causing only half the letters to print. If this is the case, easially solved... Using the left and right platen knobs, firmly push down to lock it back in place. Hope this helps....MediaMan
