Has the "crowning " on the drive roller been worn away . That is the slight barrel shape of the roller . It is that which keeps the belt tracking so I would look at that first.
als try the tension as any trace of belt slip will cause the belt to de track.

Can the tracking on the sanding belt on the B&D belt sander 5.2A be adjusted?

yes ther should be a knob on the top front roller (top side) this should affect tracking , also make sure tension taker (lever for changing belt) Is fully off so that belt gets its full tension , if the belt doesnt get full tension it will walk side to side

Eliptical sliding off track

There is an adjustment knob at the front of the elliptical that you can turn to keep it on track...kind of like a belt sander....run it slow till you get the knob turned where it needs to be.

Sanding belt seems loose and sometimes gets stuck riding where the vacuum sucks the dust from is there a way to make it tighter without lowering the bottom adjustment for where the belt meets the wood?

  1. Check and make sure you have correct air pressure and that air pressure is adjusted correctly
  2. Check that the air valve is on
  3. check that the lock screw is tight
  4. check and adjust the belt tracking and oscillation
  5. Check the platen graphite strip and felt pad for wear
  6. The Manual for this unit can be downloaded HERE

Craftsman 315.117150. The belt keeps sliding off, as soon as turned on and start to sand. It seems to be on correctly.

You need to adjust the tracking knob which is by the front handle that looks like a triangle head screw. Make sure the belt tension leaver is tight and the belt has enough tension on it. Quickly press and release the start switch and note the centering of the belt. It should be in the center of the bottom platen. If it is not, adjust the tracking knob and bump the switch again. If the belt is going in the wrong direction turn the knob the other direction. Once you are close the center of the platen, press the power switch to turn the unit on and lock the trigger. Firmly hold the unit vertically from the front handle. Fine adjust the tension knob to center the belt and make sure the belt is not hitting the case which will cause damage. You should be able to use the belt sander without the belt slipping off. Let the sander do the work, do not push down and limit the side to side motion. If the belt will not stay on then the belt is too large or the torsion spring needs to be adjusted to applying more tension on the belt and drive roller.

My Makita 9910 sander has the belt jammed. It started to walk sideways until it got jammed under the plastic at the edge. I can't move it after releasing tension. In fact now I have torn the sodding...

There should be a lateral running adjustment knob that corrects for this problem. It's too late for the current belt--get it out any way you can. Once you have a new belt in, bump the power button and try to correct the tracking in bursts. Once it is tracking, make only minor changes in the tracking adjustment so that you don't over-correct. Good luck!

My Nordic Track C2000 walking belt keeps slipping while I stand on it, what are some possible solutions?

Could be out of adjustment. Belts will stretch with time and there should be a mechanism for keeping the tension, but if you've exceeded the limit, it might slip.

Tool Shop Belt sander - can't align belt tracks to thee inside

The problem is that you have not set the adjustment properly. Back off the adjustment screws, slide on the belt and center it over both rollers, addust a little at a time both screws, after belt begins to tighten up stop adjusting. Turn the power switch on for about 1 second. Is the belt tracking? Adjust as necessary. Try the power again for longer and longer periods untill belt tracks in the center of the rollers. Tighten nuts to keep adjustment screws from backing out.

The seat belt gets stuck and makes a loud and distracting noise

The system can be operated manually by removing round cover cap on the B pillar (Just behind door). manually turn crank knob on top of motor.

There is a limit switch on the A pillar to turn off the motor for forward movement. There is a limit switch on the B pillar to shut off the motor for rearward movement.

You may need a B pillar limit switch if the belt is going all the way back but not shutting off. Unfortunately the rear limit switch is serviced with the track & motor assembly. Get a used one at car-part.com. Page with * is cheapest part.

You need to remove A pillar trim, B pillar lower trim, B pillar upper trim, and front door opening upper trim.

disconnect front limit switch
disconnect rear limit switch
disconnect motor electrical connector
remove 3 motor bolts
remove 2 limit switch bracket bolts
remove screw at A pillar near limit switch
remove 3 screws at track assy to roof.
pull back carpet & remove 4 screws at floor where you step into car.
remove track & motor assy.
