Question about Kenmore Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore model 46520 oven range. The problem is the oven bake temp. does not make set temp. I tried to re- calibrate using a digital meter, but it never made set point. I replaced the sensor, but no luck. It is about 100 deg F below set. Is it the controller?

I just have two questions to start.

  1. Is you oven Gas or electric.
  2. I need the model number (complete). If you
  • Look for a silver or white label as shown in the drawing below
  • Zeros and ones often look like the letter "O" or lower case "L"
  • Model numbers from owner's manuals are often incomplete or incorrect
From there I think we can get you going again.

Thank you for the chance to help.

When your Kenmore oven is not
heating properly, it is necessary to replace a heating element. If you need instructions on how to replace it, I have listed it below.

      Bake Element

    1. Step 1

Unplug the Kenmore oven from the wall outlet. Open the oven
door, and pull out the oven racks.

    2. Step 2

Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that
mount the bake heating element to the back of the oven. Lift up on the
baking element, and pull it out of the oven enough to grab the wires.

    3. Step 3

Use needle nose pliers to remove the wires from the bake
heating element terminals. Remove the old heating element, and place the
new bake heating element in the oven.

    4. Step 4

Connect the wires to the terminals on the new bake heating
element. Insert the terminals through the back wall of the oven, and
secure the bake heating element with the retaining screws.

    5. Step 5

Place the oven racks back inside the oven, and close the oven
door. Plug the Kenmore oven back into the wall outlet.
That is the most common answer after the senor.

I hope this helps you, let me know if you have any other questions.

So a bad element would prevent it from cycling to set temp?

The element does burn until it reaches the display set temp.

    Thanks!

I have a kenmore ultra bake, model #665 75022101 and the oven doesnt work the code E0-F3 comes up. i have the manual and have tried what they said to do but it doesnt work. i have bought a new sensor

The error code message F3 E0 indicates an open oven sensor circuit. This is the component that regulates the oven temperature.

First disconnect electrical power to the range. Pull the range out & remove the rear panel to the control area. Unplug the 2 violet wires on P3 5-6. You will need to have a meter for testing, set the meter to read ohms (resistance). Place the leads from the multimeter across the 2 violet wires, the meter should read 1080ohms if the sensor is good. If you do not get the correct reading you will need to replace the oven temp sensor.

The oven temp sensor is mounted to the inside of the oven cavity. You will need to remove the lower section of the rear panel to access the sensor connector. Unplug the sensor & slide it back into the oven cavity to remove & replace.

Sounds like the thermostat is out of calibration. IE- you set the temp at 350, but the actual temp is only 275, resulting in undercooked food. I repair comercial restaurant equipment, and use an infra red thermometer to check actual temp in the oven, against the set temp.

Need to adjust oven temperature on a Croley gas range

you shouldnt need to adjust the burners for a temp problem.
the control has a built in calibration setting and it should be described in your owners manual.
if you dont have the manual, then try to set the oven temp to max, 550, and then hold the bake button in for 10 to 30 seconds. after that it should beep and show you a 2 digit number like 00. that is the calibration mode, then you can adjust it up or down +/- 35 degrees. try to make a small adjustment first like 10 degrees and see how it bakes.
if it takes too long to bake, then use + degrees, if it is burning things then lower -10 degrees.
hope that helps you.

Disconnect the power to the range. Remove the bake element. Use a volt meter set for continuity or ohms and test the element. One meter lead to each terminal. No reading is a bad element. If the element is good, the ERC board is bad.

G E oven temp fluctuation

No, that is just fine. As a matter of fact, older ranges often had 50 to 60 degree swings in temp. Your oven temp (assuming your thermometer is dead on accurate) is 347 + 365 / 2 = 356 degrees when set at 350. I never mess with ovens which are within 10 degrees of set temp. (when checking the temps, make sure to take the readings after the oven has cycled on and off at least three times, and use a good digital oven calibration thermometer)

OVEN WILL NOT COME UP TO TEMPERATURE

Hello,

You can calibrate the oven on this model. Press the bake button, adjust the bake temperature up to 550 degrees and then press and hold the bake button until a 0 displays. Now you can adjust the oven temperature up or down to match the display.

Here is a repair manual link that you can use to download frigidaire repair manuals. The one for 30 inch freestanding ranges will have the section on calibrating the oven's electronic control.

Thanks

Electric Oven not getting hot enough

Sir, I think the top oelement is for broiling ONLY. It should not turn on when baking. The clicking may be the oven heating up.
How far apart were the oven temp instrument and the digital?
Don't expect them to match...they are inaccurate.

1. Heat water until it boils. Place digital therm in boiling water until it comes up to 212deg. If it is not at 212 in boiling water, record the error.(this gives a rough calibration to the digital)
2 Turn on oven, set to 350 deg, place digital therm on rack. Wait until oven reaches 350 (on stove) and read the digital. Note the difference between the two

Oven temperature fluctuating

Glowworm, Im assuming your model is a 790.78802500. If your husband is handy with a meter have him ohm out the sensor. It should show around 1091 ohms at 75 degrees or room temp. The preheat is programed so that the manufacturer can get the energy effecient label on the range and what ever perks they get from it. It actually should take around another 10 to 15 minutes to reach the set temp after it shows preheated. You can calibrate the oven by setting bake to 550 degrees. Then press and hold the bake pad again for 15 seconds or until a single beep is heard. Now you can adust temps up or down in 5 degree increments up to 35 degrees by using the slew keys. It will show in the display. Once you have the calibration done, press stop/clear. Catriver...post back
