Question about Dell Dimension 4600 PC Desktop

1 Answer

We put up a new computer desk for our daughter. Turned off computer, disconnected all cables, moved it to new desk and reconnected all cables. Turned on to see if working properly, seemed to be doing okay. As she has tried to do work on it many problems have occured. The monitor has little lines going horizontally, it freezes up and has to be rebooted constantly. As long as you leave it quiet, it seems fine but the moment you start to use it all the problems start. There is no way to get any work done on it. The first thing noticed was there was no printer. She had to reinstall her printer. Can you tell us what could have happened with just a move?

Stopped printing and will not continue.... the middle orange light stays on

Press the "Power" button to turn off the printer. Wait a few seconds and then power it back on.

Power off the printer again if you are still running into problems and disconnect the power cable from the AC power. Wait a few seconds and reconnect the power cable. Power on the printer. This simple procedure resets the printer back to the default factory settings. Move to the next step if the reset does not work. Select "Setup" on the CD and select "Remove HP Desk Jet 932c. The printer software and drivers are removed from your computer. Reconnect the USB Cable to the printer. The installation disc automatically recognizes it and begins reinstalling the software and drivers.

Here is the link if you cannot find your installation disk:

Print a test sheet to verify that the printer is now working. You can print a test sheet using a word processing application.

Dell monitor problem

Disconnect and reconnect both ends of the video cable (while the computer and monitor are both off). Also disconnect and reconnect the power cable. Is the power cable plugged into the same surge protector as the computer? And also try a different outlet on the surge protector for the monitor.

Motorola SB5101 Modem disconnects

* If you can connect after disconnecting power and reconnecting, it means there is formation of static charge on modem

* Check whether there is any cordless phone or any other satellite devices next to the modem. If so, move the modem 10 feet away.

* If your modem is placed on carpet, please place it on wooden desk

If this doesnt work, please dont rate me down, if it works, please rate me as fixya!!! lol...

Have a nice day!!!

Chances are you reconnected the printer to a different USB port and your default is still set up for the other port...

Look at your printer settings and chances are it set up the printer again for the new port.

Either change your default printer or move the cable back to the original port.

Before spending money on a new video card you might not need. Check all your connections. I have a monitor built into a Radio station announcer's desk and it goes blue at switch on. All I did was reposition the input cable and problem solved. It was caused by a fractured wire or two in the output cable and moving it made them make contact again. It's worked for 4 years now, if it really dies then I'll have to pull it out and replace the whole cable. Check that all your inputs and outputs are firmly plugged in and any securing screws are finger tight. But remember the old tech's saying "If it's gonna go wrong it'll usually be in the first few weeks" BMW
