One way to check is to place a glass in the upper rack right side up and let the dishwasher wash for 60 seconds. Then open the door and check the water level. Should be full. If much below that, then chances are pretty good that you have a worn wash impeller. Note that this test is indicative but not conclusive, it is used in combination with other metrics to qualitatively evaluate pump impeller efficiency.

Check the lower spray arm upper bearing for wear. Also check the upper rack spray arm tube for cracks.

Junk on the glasses: Often this is a form of hard water filming, soak a glass with the white filming on it, in a bowl of undiluted vinegar for approximately 1/2 of an hour and wash the glass with some soap and rinse under the tap in hot water. If the white marks disappeared after soaking in vinegar and then washing, it was hard water filming.

Grit in clean glasses and on dishes

Mary do you have a water softener? If so, only use 1 tablespoon of dry dishwashing detergent per wash. Don't use tablets or liquid soaps. Too much soap will wear down the items you wash, leave streaks and pock your dishes. That might be what the sandy grit is. Also, to get rid of the grit inside of your washer you can buy a special dishwasher cleaner at almost any hardware store. Always try to use a rinse-aid. Make sure your drain filters are clean. Hope this helps. Jewels

I have fridgdere dish washer every time I put the dishes in the washer it comes out foggy and discloured pls reply waht to do.

Clean out any junk in the washer. Then put in some new rinsing agent. That should work.
If it's still a problem, put a cup of vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher while doing a load of glasses and other light dishes . These should come out sparkling and it may help clean some unseen junk in the washer.

Not rinsing glasses clean

If the glasses are spotty from hard water try a rinse aid like Jet Dry. If they are actually dirty, depending on the brand of DW you may need to rinse them better before putting them in the DW. Not all brands are cerated equally, some do work better then others

My dishwasher is leaving a lot of residue on dishes

I had the same problem and fixed it by disassembling the lower spray arm and return filter, and cleaning all the junk out.
Most dishwashers have 'risers' that bring the water up to the top sprayer or arm located under the top rack. If the recirculating pump is plugged even a little there won't be enough volume or pressure to get the water up there.
Test this by putting a dry muffin pan in the top rack, flat, and running the dishwasher for a bit. If there is no water on the top (or the bottom) either the top sprayer or the sprayer arm underneath the top rack is not getting enough volume.
To fix this you need to clean out the screen and filter, where the water returns to be recirculated. If you don't have any confidence to remove the parts and clean it out yourself, get an appliance repair person to do the job.

Bosch dishwasher she45m

Just bought a Bosch dishwasher and we were told that they have no heating mechanism to dry the dishes, which is why they are more energy efficient.  You are supposed to leave the door closed for at least one hour after the cycle is complete.  The heat that has built up inside during the wash cycle will dry the dishes.  It is also recommended to always use JetDry. If you follow this advice, the dishes will come out fine.
