Question about Panasonic TCP42U2 4 in. TV

1 Answer

The picture size exceeds the screen limits by about 10% cutting off top and bottom information along with some side edge data. This began about four days ago. What menu or adjustment can I use to correct this?

Yes, it saved me time looking for self-fixes that do not exist. I will contact my vendor for service.

I have a Panasonic TC-P42U1. The screen "overflow" began only about a week or so ago. Adjusting the format and size in the standard menu controls does little to alleviate the problem, which cuts off such things as the bottom-screen "ticker" fount on most news and sports channels. I am trying for a self-help solution before calling in Best Buy on my extended warranty contract. I have also consulted Panasonic's customer support on the same day I posted my original problem statement. They, however, have not yet acknowledged my inquiry.

It sounds some thing wrong with service menu data that presenting over sized picture. Visual check by tech person is needed to adjust parameters of picture size in service menu. Please call best Buy for extended warranty cover to fix the issue as it is not user level fix.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Picture size

I found the user manual online, and the pictures in it are really helpful and make this make a lot more sense, but:
1. Press [SCREEN MODE], to switch the TV aspect ratio.
2. Press [SCREEN MODE] repeatedly until the normal screen displays.
NOTE: • Some programs may not offer all display mode options.
4:3 Programming
[Sidebar] Sidebar displays a 4:3 picture at its standard 4:3 size. Sidebars will be displayed on the right and left edges of the screen.
[Full] Full displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size, with horizontal elongation necessary to fill the screen.
[Cinema] Cinema displays a 4:3 picture at a 16:9 size, with less horizontal elongation necessary to fill the screen because a little bit of the top and bottom edge of the screen will be cut off.
[Wide] Wide displays the center of the picture as original size and the outer sides of the picture will be elongated. The size of the picture will depend on the original signal.
16:9 Programming
[Full] A picture is displayed at 16:9 size as it is.
[Zoom] Zoom displays a 16:9 picture without changing its horizontal and vertical ratio, at its maximum size.
[Cinema] Cinema displays a 16:9 picture with vertical elongation.
[Expand] Expand displays a 16:9 picture with horizontal elongation

Tv screen resolution

Check your menus. There should be one menu that allows you to resize the picture to the screen size. (Most likely a submenu in the video menu).

HOW DO I GET TO THE TRIPPED LIMIT ON MY GAS DRYER LG DLG2532W

Disconnect power. Remove the two phillips screws at the 5 and 7 O'clock position behind the door (in front of the lint filter area). Remove the (3) phillips head screws on the bottom side of the L shaped part on the back edge of the dryer's top. Stand in front of the dryer and use the palms of your hands at the sides of the top to sharply push the top back about 2 inches. Lift the dryer top off. Remove screw at each top corner of control panel. Remove plastic control panel by releasing plastic tabs along the top edge. (be careful of the sharp edges) Swing the control panel up on top of the dryer. Remove (4) phillips screws at the top of the dryer front. Unplug the light and door switches and you will be able to remove the front panel. The limit switch is on the front left side of the gas burner chamber (behind the gas valve). It is about the size of a dime, with two wires to it. Push the pin in the center of it in. Reassemble dryer. Improve your vent or you'll be doing this repeatedly. (eliminate flex ducting, use rigid aluminum pipe, as few turns as possible, as short as possible, and clean the lint out of the pipes. Make sure the end termination is one that has a few louvers or better yet, a flap which can move a full four inches, not just two inches)

White dashes across top left of TV screen

That is what I was going yo suggest. You can also adjust the picture size. "Just" will show all of the picture even the distortions on the edges. "Full" will in effect overscan and trim those edges off.

LG DLG2524W DRYER WORKS FINE EXCEPT DOESN'T HEAT UP

1. Open dryer door and remove the phillips head screws at the 5 and 7 O'Clock positions. 2. Remove three screws at very back, allowing top cover to be moved back about an inch and lifted off. 3. remove screw at top left and top right from front top panel. 4. pull plastic front panel along top edge to release front top panel. (watch for sharp edges) 5. Swing top up and over onto top of dryer. 6. Unplug light and door switch. 7. remove four screws at top of large lower panel. 8. lift panel up a bit and off. 9. unplug sensor plug at bottom allowing panel with door to be set aside. 10. gas dryer has dime sized high limit thermostat on left front side of burner chamber. Has two wires on it, with a small pin in the center. Push the pin in. Reassemble and clean out vent, eliminating flexible venting, replacing with rigid aluminum piping and elbows. Outside vent should have a four inch vent flap opening, not just a two inch if it is that style.
