Question about Gateway MX6956 Notebook
My computer was plugged up to the charger all night, but this morning when i went to turn it on, the red light flashed signifying the battery was dead. However, the charger was plugged into the computer what the computer wasn't registering this. I Took the battery off and put it back on to make sure the battery wasn't just loose. I plugged the charger into several outlets, but it never worked. What do i need to do? Get a new charger? or is there something wrong with my computer? Why would it just stop working over night?
Not sure if this is still good enough since the post is quite old, but if another charger also does not work, you either need to get a new battery, or get a replacement motherboard. If another battery is also not being charged on your laptop, the motherboard charging mechanism is faulty. one last try before you replace the motherboard is to check for a BIOS update which you can find by going to support.dell.com, go to the drivers page, input your service tag and look for the latest BIOS for your system. be sure to try to install the update with the charger connected and see how it goes.

Well, it obviously isn't getting power enough to boot. Take the battery out and use the ac adapter only. If you have the means, determine if the ac adapter is providing the correct voltage.
Also, try re-seating the memory.
Let me know what happens.
