the fact that the fan wont run , is a tip off that (barring the fan has gottn stuck) the water collection bucket float switch has gotten out of adjustment , this might require a little trial and error to see just what posisition this little device needs to be in for the unit to run

The dehumidifier is getting cold condensation on the top outside of the unit and no water in the bucket. Model BGD-510A. I cleaned the filter and the coils and still have this problem.

Kathryn, if you are operating it in a basement application, the problem is that air temperature at floor level, is colder than at shoulder level. Dehumidifiers struggle to work at temperatures between 40 & 65 degrees F (Unless they are Low Temp model designed for basement applications). And will ice up at times. Raising the unit up off the floor onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc that can handle the weight of the unit, plus a full bucket of water, will usually resolve the problem.

If it's not a basement application, try lowering the humidity extraction level to 35%. In you have an analog unit, turn the control knob to Maximum.

I hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Older Haier model...hd074cw (?) Does not pull water from air into bucket. Just stopped working this summer. Compressor and fan both working. What else can I check??

If the compressor and the fan are working then the next thing is to make sure The entire unit is cleaned . This may require you to diassemble the unit . The refrigerant Coils must be clean in order for the compressor to shed heat and propperly function. Once the unit is cleaned out thoroughly, if you still have problems you could be low or Out of refrigerant. If so it usually does not make financial sense to replair these unless It is a very expensive(over$500) model. You would be better off to replace it.

We need to have the condenser repaired or replaced. No water collects when machine is turned on. Where can I find a qualified repair man in Cumming,GA?

Before you have it repaired, there are several things you can troubleshoot and solve yourself, that won't require any repairs.

1. The humidity extraction level may be set to High. Lower it to 32 - 35%.

2. The air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, unplug it before removing and cleaning the
filter. If you wash the filer, it must be thoroughly dry, before reinstalling it.

3. Obstructed air flow. To function properly, there must be a minimum of 12" clear air space around
the entire unit.
.
4. The cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Remove the front cover and filter to access
and clean the coils with warm water and dish washing liquid. Rinse , thoroughly dry and coat
coils with a light caating of WD40.

5. The air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees F. Most dehumidifiers don't function
function well in that temperature range. Especially in a basement application. The ambient air
temperature at floor level is colder than at chest level. Set the the unit on a sturdy table, counter
top, etc, that can handle the weight of the unit & a full tank of water.

Conduct an in-home test, to check humidity extraction: Place the unit in your bathroom, plug it in and set the humidity extraction level at 32 - 35%. Turn the shower ON hot enough to generate steam. Close any window(s) in the bathroom and Do Not turn the exhaust fan ON. Close the door as you exit the room and wait 15 - 20 minutes before returning. After the time has elapsed, open the bathroom door, turn the shower OFF and allow the unit to run 5 more minutes. Then check the water collection bucket for any signs of water. If you see any, the unit is working as it should and one of more of the above solutions took care of the problem.

If the unit showed no signs of humidity collection (water) in the bucket and you want to have it repaired. The closest Delongi Authorized Service Center(s) to you are in Florida (please see the following link) http://www.delonghiusa.com/index.php?service

I hope this helped you further troubleshoot and solve the problem without having to make a repair. Please let me know. Thanks.

The humidifier is starting and running, but there is no water in the bucket

ayke, this can be caused by several things: The air intake filer is dirty and needs to be removed and cleaned. The humidity level on the unit is set too high and should be lowered to 35%. The air circulation around the unit is obstructed. There should be a minimum of 12" free air space all around the unit. The air temperature in the room is to low for the unit to operate properly. Most dehumidifiers will not work well between 40 and 60 degrees F.

To do an in home test, move the unit to the bathroom, and start it with the humidity level set at 35%. Turn the shower ON hot enough to generate steam. Do Not turn the bathrooms exhaust fan On and close in windows in the bathroom. As you exit the bathroom, close the door. Wait 15 to 20 minutes, before returning to the bathroom. Then open the door and turn the shower OFF. Allow the dehumidifier to continue run for 5 minutes, the check the water collection bucket for any signs of water. If you see any water, the bucket is working as it should.

If you don't find any water in the bucket, the humidity sensor may have failed and/or the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas.

Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My dehumidifier model BHD-501-D is icing up. The fan and compressor are running, do I need a new thermostat?

You may, but more than likely, the air intake filer needs to be cleaned and the compressor coils wiped down and cleaned. After cleaning the coils, a light coat of WD40 helps to preserve them.

Before attempting any cleaning or service work, turn the unit OFF and unplug it from the wall outlet and allow it to thoroughly thaw. Keep in mind, a dehumidifier will freeze up, if the room temperature is below 40 degrees. Also, where you have it installed may be a problem. Particuarly, a basement. Where the air temperature is colder at floor level.

In case you have misplaced your Owners Manual, I have included a link to it that you can download & print for future reference. Be advised, your Model Number is not for a Sunbeam Dehumidifier, it's for a Comfort Aire dehumidifier that's manufactured by Heat Controller Inc.

The unit model # is A3DH3032A Rev-A-R. The unit's fan runs, but no water is collected. Thanking you in advance for this support line. Frances

Frances, it may be a case that you have the humidity level set to low and it's not picking up any moisture. It's all based on the setting and the humidity level in your home. Also, the filter of the unit may need cleaning. If the filter is dirty, it can't properly function. And finally, depending on the age of the unit, it may need to have the refrigerant gas recharged.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot the problem and find a solution.

Have a Sunbeam DHC-20M dehumdifier (42pint) that quit running by blowing the circuit breaker. Suspect it's the capacitor, but don't know how to test it since it has probably a dozen contacts on the end. ...
