Question about Admiral 26 cu. ft. Side-By-Side Refrigerator
Admiral Model # NT17D4T (BM-3D49A) My question is, can you tell the age of this unit from the model # I have? It is in a high school and I think it may be from the time the school was opened in 1975.

check the damper vent door between the refrige and freezer and make sure its opening up to let cold air from freezer into the refrige, sometimes they freeze up and cant open and close when called upon to do so,if so deice it with a hair dryer, the side being hot is good telling you the compressor is operating correctly

what you are hearing is the compresor trying to start . and can not so the over load is shutting down . and when it cools it will try again .. you need to replace the starting device on the compressor .cost about 80.00 parts .. most models . some are more. and the melting is caused by no comp runing .. this is a very common problem .. hope this helps mm feed back pls .
