SOURCE: Why doesn't my mower start on my 1042 Cub Cadet

The mower is activated through a vacuum system. There are two fuses under the dash. To get to them remove the hood and then pop off the plastic shield which protects the area under the dash. Check both fuses. Replace one if necessary.

Now, if that fixes your problem great, if not there is a vacuum relay that could be bad.

you only need to remove the center bolt but make sure you see where the pins that keep it from spinning go this will help put it back togeather

SOURCE: White smoke comeing from front of engine on my 1042 cub cadet lawn tractor.

White smoke is typically an indicator of an oil leak. This could be a leak, broken ring, valve or piston problem etc. I would start with checking your filter to ensure oil has not leaked inside there. Next I would check the spark plugs for oil build up. Doesn't sound like it's getting to the exhaust.

The lever to engage the blades on my Cub Cadet rider LTX 1042 KW has no resistance the the blades do not engage. Did a part possibly break off or come loose?

The blades are engaged electrically via the PTO on the engine shaft.
Check the connector and wiring to the PTO unit, or the electrical plug on the engage switch.

How does the PTO on a cub cader LT 1042 operate?

Sounds like the anti rotation bracket is not engaged in the side of the electro magnetic clutch, there will be a bracket or plate or bolt fixed to the chassis that engages into the outer edge of the clutch to stop the whole unit from spinning

Cub cadet lt 1018 blade will not engage when i pull knob up

It sounds like the PTO is not engaging. This is the pulley on the bottom of the crankshaft and the belt for the deck goes around. It may be time to buy a new electric PTO to solve this problem.
Go to www.precisionope.com. and put your information in. you should find a part number you need there.
