Hi,
The suggested level of salt for your pond water is 1.8 pounds of dissolved salt for each 100 gallons of water. You can buy a salinity meter for maintaining the pond water quality from this link.
Thanks for using Fixya.
Good Luck and have a nice day.

How do i get rid of frogs from my koi pond

Empty the pond for a week, keep the KOI n an alternative location.

The frogs will move on for the most part.

Second add a filter and a pump to the pond, this will eliminate and Mosquitoes and other such food source from there Appeal to the pond

Third, any tall grass should also be removed.

If you can't move the fish for a week, try fencing with a mesh netting around the pond, but make sure it is dug into the ground and at least 2 feet high, 3 would be better.

Also Snake repellant keep frogs at bay as well, but keep it far away from the Koi!!!

My pond water is very green

Hi toffeegirl1
The green color of your water is due to a high concentration of Algae.
If you have no fish in your pond, you can use some bleach (depending on the size of your pond, use about 2 caps full per 30 gallons) to kill the algae.
If you have fish in your pond, DO NOT USE BLEACH as it will kill your fish.

I have a salt water pool which with a robot cleaner has been brilliant for the past three years. this year taking the cover off, we leaked alot of dirty surface water in. with a lot of cleaning the water...

Check the Ph levels - if it is way above 7 then it is too alkaline and it promotes algae growth. Add acid to bring the Ph level down to 7. Also after adjusting the Ph level then add anti-algae solution.
You can also add shock chlorine powder to the water to speed up the process.

Problem is test strips indicate high copper ion (pink) and total alkalinity is low (light tan) Free chlorine is ok (between 0.5 and 1) and ph is good. We have this greenish silt like stuff on the bottom...

1st.. Clean the green (algae) stuff out..
2nd. Clean the filter...
3rd.. Repeat step 1 and 2 until most all the algae is removed..
4rd.. Brush you pool with a pool brush to remove the remaning algae...
5th.. Seems like you have the right chlorine level but not running your filter long enough??? After all steps are completed, run you filter at 8 hrs and your chlorinator between 3 to 6 hrs until your pool clears up.. After that, vacuum again and clean your filter... During the summer months, 4hrs is not enough circulation.. Hope this works for you and good luck.. Please take the time to write a comment if this works for you...Thanks..

You can cloud your water by adding chemicals that are incompatible. You will cloud the water if you simultaneously add a water clarifier and a chemical to inhibit the buildup of lime scale. You will cloud it if you simultaneously add chlorine and scale inhibitor. You will also cloud your water if you simultaneously add soda ash and a chemical to increase the hardness of the waterResources recommends sodium hypo, lithium hypo, dichlor or calcium hypo to superchlorinate water until it contains 10 parts per million (PPM) of free chlorine.

Drain this pool, give it a good cleaning and start over. Clean the electrolytic cell. Your 24" x 52" size pool holds 12,481 gallons of water and requires 310 pounds of salt at initial startup. You should set the timer to run 11 hours per day. If the low salt light comes on add 85 pounds. You need an owner's manual.
