Not shown on available networks

I have replaced my drive on my Sony Vaio computer due to a disk crash and now when I access available wireless networks I get every network in the area but my own DI 524. The other computer I am using now is accessing it just fine. Why is this?

Your router is probably configured not to broadcast your SSID (the name of your wlan)? You should be able to enable it by logging on to the router from the computer that is still connected.

I purchased a used vaio vgc-rb43. Upon turning on a message appears stating "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device" What can I do from here?

It probably is a "dead" disk-drive inside the computer.
So, the computer would try to boot from the 3.5-inch diskette drive, or the CD/DVD drive,
if there was "bootable" media inside the device.

So, you need to take the computer to a computer-store, to remove the "dead" disk-drive,
and for them to sell you a "new" and "compatible" disk-drive.

Then, you must re-install Windows (did the seller include a set of "System Restore") CD/DVD disks? Or, can you telephone Sony, and order a replacement set of those disks?

Wireless N and 4 to 5 year old sony vaio's

Any VAIO Computer released 4 to 5 years ago is not equipped with a wireless card that supports 802.11N WLAN standards. All the older VAIO Computer supports 802.11 a/b/g wireless standard. Because of this hardware compatibility issues the Computer is crashing.

For this issue Sony has not released any general update. However, you may visit the Sony site for specific model to check for any update release to address this issue.

Call sony, the disk is 12 bucks. I had this problem after my hard drive crashed. Be careful though, because I replaced the hard drive and it would not recognize the disk after that. Sony wanted me to pay 100 dollars to fix it.
