Try using an iris cleaner on the unit. It is a disk with a brush grafted onto it. Put it in and run for 6 seconds or so and the laser eye will be cleaned. That should correct the problem. Many hired DVD''s have greasy finger marks on them and it is transgferred to the iris, eventually causing it not to be able to play the disk

My dvd player keeps saying 'incorrect disk' why? and what can i do to stop it?

I don't understand your problem.
Is it the TV or is it the DVD? You say you tried other dvds and the problem is still there. Looks like the TV is the problem. Sometimes it's hard to help people when they only mention on screen issues. How can first DVD say 'incorrect disk' and then another dvd, and another still say 'incorrect disk'? It just doesn't seem to make sense. Is the contents on the disk a computer recorded movie, film or home movie? If so, you have to record the film on the disk with a format that accept the DVD. Could the DVD be a Blu-Ray, can it play a number of video formats, DVD, DivX, KviD DVD, etc.? Try first with a purchased movie DVD disc, if it doesn't work, then the DVD is faulty. DVD players these days are meant to play a wide range of video format, including CD discs. If you have an old DVD player, you may not play latest discs. But if the DVD is incorporated with the TV, then you have to insert a new movie and see if it plays. Go to an appliance or TV DVD store and talk to them. Or you can purchase a new movie and insert it in. If it doesn't work, you can always return it. As you said, you've tried different DVDs, sounds like it is a separate DVD player. If so, try other movie discs. I get the same warning only when I insert discs with movies I recorded on my computer, such as Pinnacle video editor.

When trying to play a computer generated DVD +R DL, I get a message that says this type of disc cannont be played. please insert a different disc

The disc is probably an incompatible format for this model player. Even if the disc is finalised in your PC, or in a DVD recorder, this player may still be unable to read it. Some DVD recorder/players do not recognise DVD+R (or +R DL) media, while others won't recognise +/-RW discs (except CD-RW); this is a model limitation - not a fault with either your player, the PC burning software or the discs themselves.

Nothing can be done to fix this except purchasing a model which accepts multimedia (+R/DVD-RAM etc). The question is, does your player play ANY normal DVDs? I am guessing your player will accept DVD-R DL discs just fine since this is standard as well as proper shop-bought movies.

How to make dvd in computer for playing it in a

To copy from dvd you will need to RIP the movie in media player
Then you will need to burn it in burn list in media player.

For other movies that are AVI files and you want them on disc to play in DVD player, then you will have to download ConvertX to DVD program and convert file from AVI to DVD

Burned DVDs play on PC but won't play on home player. I have 3 PC (2HPs and 1 Parts built),running XP home, pro, media. I bought 2 Samsung SH-S182 DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner, and have tried them on all 3...

Nero 6 and 7 does not provides us the facilitiy of burning the DVD in appropriate DVD Format. Instead it burns the DVD in the normal DATA Format, which is not supportable by our DVD Player. To play the DVD in our DVD Player we should burn the DVD in the appropriate DVD Burner which itself converts the extension of the movie and make it proper for a DVD Player to read it. It also adds some files to the DVD which is sometimes used by the dvd player in running the DVD.

Disney dvd player wont play movies (dvd) but plays music (cd) fine

Might be the type of movie - some of them are only able to play "G" ratings. Try this: click <play> 1234 <play> It will likely unlock the dvd that is in and will begin to play. You will have to do the 'code' each time, or there's an unlock program you can purchase.

Dvd stutter

Hi lynnjunell,

I regret to hear you are having trouble with the Insignia® DVD player you purchased.

It is possible that the problem is with the DVD, even if it plays in other units. I would recommend first clean the DVD carefully to remove any residue or debris that may be on the disc. If this is still happening on multiple discs and cleaning does not help, I would recommend brining in the unit to your local Best Buy™ store to be checked out by the Geek Squad® precinct. If you are unable to locate your sales slip, the store may be able to assist if you recall some specific information surrounding the purchase. You may also call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8287) for assistance in locating your purchase information for warranty purposes.

Thank you,

Region codes reset

hi juferrer,i guess the dvd u have brought is from a foreign one. Region coding is how Hollywood studios stagger dvd movie releases across the planet. These codes ensure that one country doesn't get a DVD movie before the same movie is out in that country's theatres. In their corporate omniscience, movie studios have carved the planet into regions with each region having a specific code.

All DVD players and discs have region codes. A DVD player and disc must be of the same region or the disc will not play.

If you want to watch movies from other countries, you need a multiregion DVD player. This will allow you to play any disc from any region. However, because TV standards differ, you might need a specialized NTSC/SECAM/PAL TV or a DVD player that can output any signal to the standard your TV accepts.hope u get the point.
