Question about Samsung 26.0 Cu. Ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator, RS265LABP

1 Answer

Digital display reads appropriate temperature but Fridge side is warm on the inside.

Freezer and Ice maker are working well. Fridge side dose not seem to get cold despite the display on the front of the door telling us it is at 40 degrees. We had turned off the unit and it seemed to help, but the problem came back within a day.
We are currently defrosting the entire unit, and have ordered a service manual. Believe that the thermostat is defective, but have been unable to locate a part number on the web thus far (hoping that the service manual will help).

Ok 1 of two problems defrost heater and thermostat

evaporator fans going bad just verify that the fans run if not I've seen on some side by side that the defrost thermostat controls the evaporator fan. jump the wires passing a pin trough the two wires of that defrost thermostat (usually brown/pink or orange/pink) if fan turns on theres go your defective part. the defrost thermostat usually in these model is a L 40 or L 45.

Hi, my side my side fridge freezer has just packed up, the temp reads cold enough but the fridge and the freezer parts are both warm :( plz help

While it could be the main control board, I would check for a defrost circuit failure first. If you take off the read shield of the freezer you will be able to see the evaporator coils. If that is a block of ice, then your defrost circuit is not doing its job and the ice is causing the thermostats to read the incorrect temperature.
The good news is that once you defrost the unit, you will have 2-3 weeks before the ice builds up enough to be a problem again. Which give you time to troubleshoot and order the replacement parts.

I have a GE mdl PSI23SGRCSV side by side. initially the digital temp displays for both freezer and fridge sides went to 16 on freezer side and 43 on fridge side. This happened almost overnight it seemed....

it may be that your fridge is now low on freon the techs now do not know what to do the best thing to do is to call the tech and ask them to test the compressor pressures and see if it is low on charge. unless you know how to take the lower back panel off (the one that is probably cardboard) and feel the lines on the compressor and see if it is really cold and really hot that means that it is cooling properly but if it feels a little warm cominv out of the cooling side and hot on the return side then you need more freon.

Ice maker does not work

Hi ndfi,

If your ice maker wont work, it is often due to a defrost problem. If something is going on inside the freezer and the temperature is too warm, No Ice production. The ice maker needs to be at a certain point or temperature to make ice. Try putting a thermostat inside the freezer to see what the temperature is. It should be at least Zero. If not, turn the temperature of your refrigerator to the next coldest setting inside the freezer. Let it go for a day and see if the machine starts to make ice. Here are additional steps that you may apply on this issue.

1. The Fill tube for the Ice Maker may be froze. There is a tube that runs up the back wall of your fridge and enters the cabinet through a hole right behind the ice maker. If you look at the ice machine inside your freezer you will notice a tube entering it from the rear wall. This is the tube. Inspect the tube carefully with a flashlight to see if it's blocked with ice. If so, there's your problem. Use a hairdryer to thaw it out and your machine will be making ice.

2. If the tube feeding the ice maker is solid round. Like a paper towel roll. Cut a **** along the top of it to prevent it from freezing up again.

3. Check your Water valve for any loose or bad connections. On some refrigerator style ice makers you can easily check the valve using the hole in the front of the module.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Flashing #4 on temperature display

flashing #4 is a communication error between the control board and the damper assy, usually it is the fault ogf the damper assy but if it is under mfg warranty, replace both, if you need to pay for the parts yourself get the damper first.

Fridge and Freezer quit working

If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, check these, in this order:

  • It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these:

    • If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire.

    • If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire.

In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary.

  • The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

RS2534WW

I just had the exact same problem with my Samsung RS2534WW Fridge from Best Buy. I think the freezer seal was not totally shut and something inside was pushing against the door, so it couldn't close tightly, but was not open enough to trigger the chime alarm. In the morning, the freezer temperature display was blinking. Later on it settled around 59 degrees. Here's what seemed to work for my particular situation: First I pushed the ice selector button, from cube, to crushed, to No Ice. Then I unplugged the fridge for about 10 to 15 minutes. Next, I plugged it back in and held down the Power Freeze and Power Cool buttons simultaneously until the chime sound is heard. I read this should reset it, but my display turned completely off. So, I held in the Power Freeze and Power Cool buttons again and as soon as the display lit up, I let go. The freezer temperature no longer blinked and settled at 56 degrees. Next, I opened the lower service panel in the back. First, I verified the (evaporator) fan in the middle was running (it was). It seems to pull air in on the freezer side and blow it over the compressor and out the fridge side. The air intake side had a lot of dust, especially on the condenser coils, so I vacuumed it out. Next, I opened the freezer door and noticed a build-up of ice around the freezer air ducts in the back (both exhaust and intake vents). I then used my hair dryer to thaw out the ice and wiped up the water. Next, I closed the freezer door and the temperature read 59 degrees. It stayed on that temperature for 8 hours and then the temperature started to drop quickly and it returned to normal. At that point I turned the ice maker back on and it has been working fine ever since. Apparently, the unit has an 8-hour cool and defrost cycle. I read someone else turned off (unplugged) their fridge overnight with the doors open to let it defrost. When they plugged it back in the next morning, all was working fine. If those tips don't work, you may have a problem with either your cooling system or defrost system, or it could be something as simple as a blown thermal fuse. Hope that helps!
