Question about Televison & Video
I have a Symphonic TV Model # 55C6099. A VHS tape is stuck in the VHS slot. It will not eject. I turn the TV on and it automatically turns off in about 10 seconds. How can I get the VHS tape out.
Thanks. Don S.
I'm sorry to say that the solution as stated is not correct. This condition usually occurs because of belts that are slipping. In order to remove the tape, some dis-assembly is required. If you have not done this in the past, I would not suggest that you attempt this repair. This repair should cost about $10 in parts plus labor. It is possible that the IR LED is defective as well which can also cause this. This is a common failure and should be a simple repair for any shop.

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check that there is a manual Eject button which is usually a small hole located underneath the VHS drawer. Now insert a stiff wire—such as a paperclip or safety pin—into the hole and push gently and the drawer should open partway. Gently pull the drawer the rest of the way open. Remove the VHS and see if there is a problem with it. Most VHS player drawers get stuck when a VHS tape is wrapping or the label is starting to peel. If the VHS is warped, discard it. If the label is peeling, remove the label. If still the issue is not resolved, then take a smallest screw driver and press the eject button and put the screw driver in the cavity above the VHS drawer and it will be open and check that the VHS is not wrapped and looking fine. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
