Need help, router will not connect. The internet service road runner is working when I plug directly in computer but through the router it won't activate. This router has been working for over a year now with no problems and now it all of a sudden is not working. I cancelled tmobile home service but that should not effect my wireless connection.

Try unplugging the power from Road Runner modem and disconnect the computer or router. Then only plug in the power to the router and plug in the power to the modem.

If this does not work, try resetting the modem's config to factory defaults by sticking a paperclip end into the reset button hole in the back while powering it up. hold the buttin in for atleast 15 seconds while the router restarts. then retry the first suggestion.

Service Hook-ups...

1- in order of what connects to what
1- linksys connects to road runner modem. Should be a network connection on the back of the router that says uplink. This connects to the road runner`s wired port on the back of the unit.
Vonage phone will/should connect through the wireless section an in your personal wifi connection when you get the router wireless setup. Name your wireless something that other people are not using and then tell vonage phone to connect to that network.
Hope this helps

I have a belkin router N-150 F6D4230-4 and it has been hooked up for a while. Well, I had to get my internet turned back on today and now my wireless internet does not work. The modem light is flashing on...

It would be best if you setup the router again. Restore the router to factory defaults. Note: This will remove all previously configured settings "some router has reset button on the back of the router cover by a sticker. The reset button is small that you need a pen to reset it."

1.Unplug the power to the cable / DSL modem
2.Connect the power to the router.
3.Connect a computer to one of the LAN ports of the router.
4.Restart your computer.
5.From the computer connected to the router, open your web browser (internet explorer).
6.Enter the router's address, http://192.168.2.1
7.Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit.
To configure the router to connect to the Internet, you must enter information provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) into the "Connection Type" section in the left-hand column under the "Internet WAN" heading of the router's configuration page. If using DSL Internet, you may need to enter the PPPoE username and password. Likewise, if you have been issued a static IP address by your provider, the static IP fields (including network mask and gateway) must also must be set in the router.
ISP Connection Type
AT&T PPPoE
Charter PPPoE, Dynamic
Comcast Dynamic
Earthlink PPPoE, Dynamic
Qwest PPPoE
Road Runner PPPoE, Dynamic
Verizon PPPoE, Dynamic
8.Plug the power back into your Internet modem.
9.Verify that this computer can connect to the Internet properly. Open a new web browser and visit a few Internet sites such as Google.com or Yahoo.com.
10.Finally, configure additional network security features as desired to guard your systems against Internet attackers

If issue is not resolve you can contact your Internet Service Provider for assiatnce.

Internet connection dropping out

Hi powergirl_18

The problem is that your router is trying to connect to the ISP's DNS IP and it's not always connecting. This is a common problem (especially with Cable subsribers Road Runner) You will need to log into your router and go to the Basic Setting and manually put in a DNS number that will work. You should contact your ISP to obtain the IP that will work. If not you can try 209.15.151.2. That's a dedicated DNS, and sometimes it works, and sometimes not. You really need to get a good one from your ISP.

Good Luck

Adapter no longer detecting ANY connections.

Hi cpjango,

Most routers especially the smaller ones do not have anything that resembles good ventilation. If you touch the router and its anything more than luke warn then its pretty clear that your router is overheating and unless you take a few steps could be at risk of being damaged beyond repair. My suggestion is to make sure its standing in a position where minimal router surface touches anything else. Also keep it away from your monitor, pc, desktop and anything else that produces heat. If it keeps randomly shutting off i would even recommend a small fan or a replacement.
that said I am assuming its not your service provider.

please tell me how this turns out.

Connectivity

if you are able to connect directly that means everything is fine with your ISP, there is something wrong with router settings.

Most of the case we can resolve by rebooting the router and computer ( a complete power cycle ).

OR
Once you try to connect wirelessly, first check the ip address
how to check the ip address:
1: Click on start
2: Go to run & type cmd then enter
3: Then type ipconfig, then hit enter.
Now check the ip address.
Most of the time we get ip address start with 192**. if you are getting the ip address start with 192 it means router is providing the connectivity. Then you need to check with computer with wireless settings & please make sure that wireless switch on turnon on your computer. You will find that button on edge of the laptop near by the spearker ports & you may try move that button to right or left. That will trun on & trun off your wireless network.

Otherwise last option would be for you may contact the router company/internet service provider to re-configure the router settings.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Use of router in network

Try reset the router & cable modem. There ia a reset (very small) button on the back of the wireless router & the modem. Disconnect the power cords to both. Use a pen & hold in for 10 seconds (router & modem). Re-connect power (router & modem) & restart PC. If your service still has not returned. Chances are it's your internet provider & not you. Double check by connecting your modem directly to your PC.

Luck!

Hi Chuck,
Sounds like you got a pretty nice Linksys router, and I don't see any compatibility issues for it's use with Road Runner's modem or your computers that will connect to it. Your router came with an installation guide with step by step diagrams and if you follow the directions you should be just fine.
Note that the "N" router will work with previous/slower WiFi such as wireless "B" & "G", but if you want computers on this network to utilize the speed that the "N" router provides they will have to have "N" cards or dongles.
I hope this helps, and Good luck.

Not working on my 2nd computer

I am going to assume Vista is the first OS and both machines are windows computers and you are accessing the cable service through a DI-524 wireless router. There are many issues that can relate to your problem. First does your cable provider require you to logon to access the internet. If so, try using each computer individually (with the other one logged off and shutdown) with the existing wireless connection. If this works both machines are configured correctly for the router and the issue appears to be dealing with the logon possibly having it performed by the router if possible. Second if that does not work -- on each machine bring up a command prompt window (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt) and type ipconfig and press enter. There may be multiple local area connections but look for one with a 192.168.?.? address on each machine. The first question mark should be the same on both machines and the second different. If this works both machines have connected to the router and we are seeking another issue. If this is not true one machine has a configuration problem and cannot access the wireless router (probably the Windows ZP computer from you description). We will need to diagnose further once you answer the above questions.
