PS3 won't recognize any discs

I read in an earlier post of yours on this matter that you can sometimes dissassemble the PS3 and fix the problem yourself. Do you mean by cleaning the lens? And can you elaborate on fixing the unrecognizing disc issue.

Was in the middle of playing Call of Duty 4 when I noticed only 1/2 the sounds were there. At the end of the match the system froze up and I rebooted the system. After that it wouldn't see any kind of CD/DVD/BD.

Taking it apart seems real tricky. No screws, just snap together but without knowing what and where to pry, will damage the case.

I was playing Call of Duty 4 today and have the same problem as some others. The sounds went out, then the screen went black. Eject disc, turn off system, restart system, re-insert disc (clean, no scratches) and it does not read the game. I tried several other games and NONE are recognized. Anybody know whats going on?

Me and my brother were playing the playstation 3, and were done playing and we went to sleep. The next morning the system would'nt read any of our games. I was so angry because I didn't know what happened to it. Please tell me someone has an answer...I've tried taking it to circuit city but they could'nt help us. I realy don't know what to do...

Try a DVD lens cleaner first, if it doesn't fix the issue, the player is bound for service because lens die out.

Only the first version of the PS3 had PS2 backwards compatibility, They did make a special edition Metal Gear Solid version with it included but other than that no other PS3 will play PS2 discs... No matter what Add-On you install.

Ps3 not loading disk

Here is how you can fix the not loading/reading disk on PS3.The problem is with the sensors under the Blu-ray drive that are not making contact with the base of the system. So, the first thing to do is open the PS3. Then, you slightly put pressure over the area where the disc loads and after this your disc should begin recognizing all discs inserted and will load a disc without any problems. This should fix your problem. If this does not fix your problem, you will need to send your PS3 to Sony to have it repaired by specialists.

My PS3 is not reading or recognizing that there is a game disc inside. even when i eject and re insert the disc the console will not show that there is a disc inside. what can i do to fix this ?

Hello there,

The problem with your ps3 is that your lens is very weak and cannot read a game disc that is inserted into it.

To fix this, all you have to do is to replace the lens of your ps3 and it will work perfectly fine again.

PS3 does not read my disc. I was playing a game when the sound went out on my game, although i could still play the game. I restarted my PS3 and now it does not recognize games or movies.

have your Hard drive and all cables connected to your PS3 unplugged, after 2 to 3 minutes try to load a game again, if this does not fix the problem, probably the main problem is that the lens might be damage, bring it to a local electronics or computer repair shop and let them have a check on it.

hi your ps3 has a damaged laser head making it unable to read the discs, or the laser head is dirty and needs cleaning, take it to a repair shop or if you know how to fix this you can try it yourself, if it is under warrenty you may want to use it up.

It works but doesnt read any discs

well the harddrive is corrupt same thing happened to mine. this happened because while you were playing a game or watching a film you probably moved the console which damages the harddrive but there is no way you can fix it you either send it to sony which would cost a fortune because its in america and there is a risk of it getting lost or damaged in the post or you type in ps3 repair in google and click on the first one.

I havent taken apart a PS3 yet..I've done Xbox 360 and that's SPOOKY but possible.
If you do get to the lens dont use alcohol. Use a decent lens cleaning fluid. I screwed up a lens with alcohol.
Also, if the laser pickup runs along a chrome rail or two, clean the rails with WD40 on a cotton swab.
90% of the one I fix have dirty lenses and dirty rails
