When the lights on a router fail to work, this means that the router has gone bad. In some cases like yours, the router went bad. You have to concider that the router is always transmitting a wireless signal 24 hours a day. My option to you is to get a new router that is better and longer lasting. I have a linksys WRT300N and it is the best on I have ever used. (I also used netgear and belkin)

WHY POWER LIGHT STAYS AMBER AFTER POWER PLUG IN

This can result after a power failure. Unplug it for 30 minutes or more and plug back in. If it still stays amber, it may be damaged a.k.a. "bricked"

Have a look here to see how you might be able to un-brick it.

  • Switch off all the devices modem, router and computers also unplug their power cables.
  • Wait at least 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cords back in, but don't switch them on.

What does error code 51030 means on a Wii?

You probably only need to do a power cycle on the router. Unplug it for a few minutes as well as your modem. Plug the modem back in first, wait till all of the lights come back on or 2 minutes, whichever is ooner. Next plug the router back in and wait a few minutes as well and see if you get a connection again.

I unplugged my Netgear wnr2000 one night, when I woke up in the morning and plugged it back in the on light went to the orange colour which kept flashing on and off and doesn't do anything else, normally...

You have lost your connectivity between modem and router.

Be sure you always start your network in this sequence:

1. Turn off and unplug the modem from the power outlet. Next, turn off the wireless router
and computer.

2. Turn on the modem and wait 2 minutes.

3. Turn on the wireless router and wait 1 minute.

4. Turn on the computer.

If this does not work, come back to your post let me know and we will try a full reset.

No modem recognition, lights appear alternately then repeats.

1. Unplug the router for 1 minute then plug it back to the power and try you connection.
2. check with your ISP to see if you have proper connectivity with them.
3. if so, go through the basic setup for you router
4. check the manufacturer site to see if you have firmware updates or if the router has come to what is call "end of life" and is no longer supported.

My home pc crashed last night. Having recovered from that I am now unable to connect to my Netgear DG834pn wireless router. My laptop is still connected fine. My ISP is Virgin.

You'll have to unplug the router, plug it back in after a minute or so, then hold down the reset button until the lights go off and come back on again. This will reset all the information and you can relogin and set everything up the way you had it before. Remember your new login and password will be: admin

2701HG-B lights went out and then power died

I've had good luck with that same 2wire router, but Att is right, the ethernet & internet lights should stay on. Have you tried moving the ethernet connector to a different port on the router? If they're going out, some component inside is failing, but it could be specific to that one port, and you may be able to use another without a problem. (Just a thought.)
You can contact 2wire support directly from here, if you choose.
And there's a full user's guide with some troubleshooting options and diagnostic tools available (to some subscribers) here.
But it sounds like it may be time for a new router...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Can't connect Netgear router with ATT DSL

After you hook everything up the first thing you want to do is power cycle everything. So unplug the power cord on the router and the modem, Then plug the modem back in first and once the lights all come back on then plug in your router and once those lights come up i would reboot your PC and see it that helps.
