What is the width of the drive v belt.

I need to replace the drive belt, I am not sure the belt on the mower is the correct width. I assume the length is 50", is this correct?

Thanks

PowerSmart Lawn Mower. I need replacement lawn mower belt please.

Which model of lawnmower is it? If it is the DB8605 PowerSmart supply them directly.
It is simple enough to measure it yourself. Belts are usually measured as two numbers. Total External length, and Belt width. Using a permanent marker, mark a point on the OUTSIDE, backside of the belt. Often the rough canvas like back surface. Using a piece of string hold one end on your marked point and run the string all the way around the outside edge of the belt until you get back to your original mark then measure the string with a tape measure.
The belt width is exactly that. Measure Across the back surface, the same one you used for the length. Take both of these measurements to a good belt supplier and they should be able to supply you with a replacement using those numbers.

I have a JD 212 It keeps burning the V belt I've replaced all the bearing and it still shreds the belt what am I missing????

A correctly tensioned vee belt running in smooth undamaged pulleys should last for hundreds of hours if not thousands.

Assuming the above requirements are met other reasons why belts fail early are: -

Contamination by fuel, oil or grease.
Use in extremes of heat or cold.
Use in an unsuitable environment; sharp stones or gravel chips, etc.

Use of an incorrect width or profile of belt - should be the right width and profile for the pulleys (there are several).

Incorrect pulley alignment. The pulley grooves should line up exactly and this should be checked with a straight edge. Most pulley systems are designed so the alignment can be corrected.

Why burning belt on 48" Craftsman riding mower

Since you mentioned "48-inch riding mower" let's assume your question is about the mower deck and not the overall mower or its main drive belt (if manual shift-on-the-fly model). If the belt burns that means it is running but slipping against something; or that the drive sheave us turning against an impeded belt. In the first case the belt will be burned along its length; in the second the burning will be occuring in one location(s) along the belt. In any case of belt slippage, check first that all tensioners (springs) are properly in place and not broken or fatigued and in need of replacement. The only other thing would be resistance to belt running, such as:
blade blockage; blade rotor resistance from lack of grease or ruined bearing in need of replacment; grass clogging on deck underside or under blade drive pulley on deck top side; a pully sheave out of round; an obstacle between belt and sheave that is preventing free turn of sheave and belt run; misrouted belt; an overstretched belt that cannot be sufficiently tensioned. Inspect and correct or replace as needed.

Model no. 917257660 need belt size for drive and deck

Hello,

The part number for the drive belt is: 140294 the size is Length: 82 1/4", Width: 1/2", Type: Covered

The part number for the mower deck is: 140067 the size is Length: 82 1/2", Width: 1/2", Type: Covered

They are very similar belts so don't get them mixed up the springs on the clutch pulleys may not be able to compensate for the slight difference.

Good luck, if you find this helpful please vote yes. Thank You!!

Timing belt replacement

hello,

The solution provided below will be of great assistance to you;

1.Ensure to Study the exact path that the drive belt follows across the pulleys and make sure you know it

2.Loosen the drive belt tensioner by loosening its upper locking nut with a wrench, then slip the drive belt off the crankshaft pulley first and remove it from the others.

3.Take the old drive belt with you to the auto parts shop so it can help you to get the correct length, width and design for the replacement belt.

4.Install the replacement drive belt onto the pulleys, making sure it runs in the same path as the old one. Check and make sure the belt fits properly in each of the ribbed grooves within the pulleys.

5.Adjust the drive belt tensioner until it gives the belt the proper tension and tighten the locking nut. On some engine types. the belt uses a dynamic tensioner that will automatically set and maintain the correct tension.

Thank you...

It keeps eating drive belts! It looks like the pulleys are not parallel. Can you align them? It appears to be spring loaded

Either the belt you are using is not the correct lenght and width, or one of your pulleys is worn out. Make sure that you are using the correct belt. Poulan mowers (made by AYP) will typically use a fractional length belt...meaning that you have to buy a Poulan belt to go on it. With the proper belt and pulleys, the front drive pulley should be level and the belt pattern should not contact anything other than the pulleys.
Good luck!

A/c pwr steering drive belt keeps coming off

If you have set the tension correcly when replacing the belt there are a couple of things that could be going on. #1 it is possible that the belt itself is the wrong length or width. Be sure that the belt you have is a good replacement for your make and model. Also I have repaired a vehicle that had this problem and it was because of the tension roller was freezing up and not moving the belt along properly so replacing that roller fixed the problem. Also, if the angle of one of the aspects of what the belt goes over is slightly cockeyed it can cause the belt to come off as well. I would suspect the length or width of that belt is your problem. Make sure that you have the correct belt, set the tension properly, check all the angles of the devices it rolls over and make sure nothing is slow, bound or not moving(frozen up) and this problem should be fixed. Good Luck
