There are plenty of causes for this. 1. If ram is not functioning properly, then you system may be unstable. Even low memory can cause this. Please check the Virtual Memory so that you can make sure it's properly set. 2. Virus/malware/spyware are the most common root for this problem. You need to Scan using several updated antivirus, not only one antivirus is enough. If you can format completely (all the partitions,) I would suggest you do it. 3. Too many partitions or only one partition can also cause the same problem. So make sure you have average partition (C, D, E,F not more than four on one hard disk). 4. Chipset Firmware/Bios firmware outdated, so updating the chipset/bios is also important. 5. Overheating is also a cause, this can't be fixed easily since in most cases you'll need to replace internal parts. Also check the processors coolant paste, if it's dried out, apply some more on the cpu, it's very helpful. 6. Too many programs running in the background/startup or installed on the system. Check whether how many applications are running and how many programs have been installed on it. 7. Hardware/Software incompatibility. This can be fixed with step by step troubleshooting. 8. Antivirus. On most systems, Norton Symantec 360 isn't suitable and I will not recommend if you don't have enough memory and virtual memory. Most system freeze if this antivirus(all-in-one at a time) is installed. Hope this helps for your troubleshooting. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

FixYa does not sell or repair products. Rather, it has people that can help you fix things yourself with advice, tips and instructions. Your notebook should be sent back to the company that manufactured it after obtaining an RMA from them first.

Computer freeze

It does sound like a ram memory issue, remove one stick of ram and use it the way you normally would, if no change! remove the second piece and put back the first, if this fixes the problem, replace the one in your hand. If no change, look at the speedfan that was installed if problem occurred after installation replace with original for your make and model, also! if you do a lot of gaming that may be a factor.

Hp pavillion dv2000 freezes always but at different times-sometimes i can be on for a few minutes other times maybe 30 minutes before it freezes up it has been sent to hp 2 or 3 times and they cant find...

It is also important to remove the suspicious applications and programs in the computer to avoid Windows freezing. In this type of infection not only your Windows registry gets corrupted and needs massive repair but also there is virus based penetration in the Windows set up. In this situation it is recommended to conduct a virus scan as well. However, if your Windows freezes up, the best solution is to repair the computer registry.use registry cleaner reg in out

My laptop keeps shutting off even thought it is fully charged and still being powered. I dont noe what is causing it to happen.

its sounds to me if the laptop keeps shutting itself down its because you are having overheat issues you may have a bad fan or heat sink which prevents the laptop from cooling itself if it is new you should take it back if not you may want to have it sent in for repair! hope this helps!

Clock will not keep time comp..is only 4 weeks old plus the touch pad freezes up from time to time

Hi,
The reason the clock won't keep time and date is because the CMOS battery is dead, this battery inside the laptop keeps the date and time in the BIOS even when the laptop has no power to it.
I recommend you take the laptop back to where you bought it from or call the manufacturer as you are still covered by the warranty.
They will either arrange for the laptop to be sent in or send you to a service center.
It's also a good idea to mention that the touchpad freezes too.

Regards.

My screen is blank & no sound

The laptop probably has a sticker on the inside that changes color when wet(eventually this had to be defective)...this is why they probably sent it back without even turning it on. since you never spilled anything on it you will probably have an hard time to have it replaced, but keep fighting for your right to have it replaced.

Hp dv9000 monitor issues

First of all, this indicates that there is Hardware failure with your Notebook.

Try these simple steps :

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
Note : Please see that there are no external devices or cables connected to the Notebook.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and do NOT connect the battery now.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

Unfortunately, if the issue is unsloved, you can get the Notebook repaired by HP if it is purchased in US and even if it is out of warranty since this issue is covered only for few issues like Startup, Wireless etc and should be installed with AMD Processors.

The detailed description of the issue is addressed in the link below :

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c01087277&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Find the Product Number of the Notebook which should be printed on a sticker pasted at the bottom of the Notebook indicated by P/n and try finding them from the link below :

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c01300427&dlc=en

If the product Number of your Notebook is listed, you need to contact HP Chat Support and provide the Notebook details like the Serial Number, Product Number and request for the free service offered by HP for the Notebooks purchased in US and which are listed in the link provided above.

Your Notebook should be returned within 7 to 9 Business days once it is sent for repairs.

Hope this helps...

Laptop Freezes During Startup, before I can press any buttons or anything.

It could be a corrupt bios, which can be deleted with the removal of the bios battery or by the 'JBAT1' terminal to pins 2-3 then back to 1-2. The bios is probably set to halt on all errors and thats why it only goes so far. If there is no action at all; then there is a power failure to the motherboard or the processor has failed. Depending on your notebook age is whether it's economical to repair.
