Every time i turn it on, it asks me to choose a language, which is weird it never did that before. And once i choose a song, the screen freezes, fades out and then goes to the SansaDisk start up screen and just stays frozen like that

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.
Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced. Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website. Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything. Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp If these fail, then: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version). You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer. -Tha Mp3 Doctor

Sony's are especially sensitive to certain characters - it is possible that there is a character in the band/song name that is causing the defect - this is unlikely, since you say that it's occurring on all songs. Try resetting the language back to English in the Sony menu just to be sure.
Another possibility is that the ID3 tag is in a version that is not supported by the player. Unfortunately, I went through all of the product documentation, and it doesn't say which ID3 tag versions it is compatible with. This is time-consuming, but you could downgrade your ID3 tag editor, delete all songs off your player, and then reload them to be sure.

You device is too full.
You need minimum 6MB for the "music database". The more music you have, the bigger the database needs to be.
Try freeing up 30MB or so, that should solve it.

I had this exact same problem! I had it frozen for 3 weeks then i did this I guantee it works! Really it does.
Disconnect the player from the computer if it is connected.
Please copy and paste the following link into your web browser address bar, and then click Go or hit your Enter key. When prompted, choose the option to Save the file to your Desktop.
Once you have downloaded the file, please follow these instructions.
1) Double click on My Computer so that you can see it on your screen.
2) Turn the player off.
3) On the top of the player is a Hold switch, move it to the right (toward the headphone jack) so you see Orange.
4) On the left hand side of the player is a Record button, press and hold it while connecting the player to the computer. Continue holding the Record button until you see a new icon under My Computer called 16MB FORMAT. Once you see that icon you may release the Record button.
5) Double click the file you downloaded earlier and run it. Follow all of the on-screen instructions, and when you get to the prompt where it asks you whether you would like to Format it, choose Yes. Once it is done, click Finish.
6) Disconnect the player and look at the screen. Several things will be displayed, and when you see Key Lock, System Shutdown, move the Hold switch on the top back to the left.
7) Turn the player on and watch the screen. If you see a Refresh Database Fail error, you will need to follow steps 1-7 again until you do not get the error. If it does not work the first time, it could take up to 3 times for it to work.
Well, you need to return it for a new one. If it has happened in so many few weeks, you need to. It sounds like you may have downloaded a virus. you are going to reboot it and or restart it, you have tried this so it sounds like it is just messed up. exchange it or send it in to get it reset.
