Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

I just purchased an RCA digital TV converter box...got it ooked up and it works beautifullly. After a while itturned off suddenly and completely. I suppose perhaps because of the auto power down timer which I had not set. My question is--now what? How do I get it to come back on?

I am not sure what model box you have but you should be able to get a free user manual at the RCA website or www.retrevo.com by entering the model number they are free downloads and that should give the info youre needing.

No they do not have digital tuners inside them. They are meant to be monitors to converter boxes, cable boxes, and satellite television receivers.

So you are telling me I need a digital converter for this TV to g

Who was not watching the months of public service announcements? You need a Digital-to-Analog (ATSC-to-NTSC) converter box to receive over-the-air (OTA) signals in most parts of the country. You do not need one for most cable and satellite box outputs--they are NTSC or HDMI. Some low-power, typically religious, stations are still analog. Note OTA may be high definition (HD) or standard resolution (SD) but will be digital.
To get HD on your HD set you must have OTA (HD TV tuner, not converter), cable (QAM TV receiver), satellite (HDMI or 5-wire RCA),or Blu-Ray with HDMI or RCA.

This TV is analog, meaning there are no "straight digital" inputs, and the tuner itself is NTSC (analog), and not ATSC (digital). You will need a digital converter box to receive over-the-air (broadcast) digital television stations. This does NOT, however, preclude you from purchasing Digital Cable or Digital Satellite, and using the analog output on their converter boxes. The television will display high-definition images from those boxes and other sources.

I have the owner's manual in .pdf (adobe acrobat) format. Leave me your email address and I'll send it to you.

Thanks,
Rob

The short version: Will a 14-year-old TV work with digital-to-analog TV converter? Specifically, I have RCA Model G25342AT, built in Sept., 1994. In case yes, converter should work... Trying to connect...

The converter box should work. Getting the remote to work with the TV might be a challenge. You might have to stick with two remotes. It used to be in the old days you could plug your tv power into the remote that way you would turn the tv on with the tuner remote but I be they stop doing that.

There is website that will let you check the digital televison signals for your area. This site should help you:

I have purchased the converter box to receive digital signals and my tv doesn't have the red/yellow/white connections. Is there a model of converter that will work on this tv which is an RCAModel F25423...

THE CONVERTER BOX HAS R.F. OUTPUT. JUST HOOK IT UP AND PUT THE T.V. ON CHANNEL 3.(OR WHAT EVER THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT CAM WITH THE BOX) YOU WILL NEED TO CHANGE THE CHANNELS WITH THE REMOTE THAT CAME WITH THE BOX. YOU MIGHT NEED TO SET UP THE BOX (SCAN FOR CHANNELS) THAT IS ALL IN THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT CAME WITH THE BOX.
