I can't think of any printers on the market that are as rugged as the OTC 850XL, but there are other printers that may work for you. You can call me at 805-526-1603 and I can try to suggest an alternative.

Unknown Printer Error EPSON 860. All three lights are flashing at the same time, and printer will not work.

Sound like you have a mainboard issue. It's time to replace this old workhorse unless you can find an old one with a good mainboard for cheap. A replacement printer is cheaper than the mainboard.

What would be a goot upgrade for my existing J6480 that just quit and the rollers don't work. A guy just worked on it and said it would be cheaper to buy a new one.

Inkjet printers are always cheaper to replace than to repair. You can get pretty decent quality out of $100 printers, dont spend much more than that and get the extended warranty because places like bestbuy will just replace the printer without even servicing it. If you want more of a workhorse invest in a laser printer, they are definetly worth it. There isnt much difference in brands in my opinion so buy whichever you prefer.

I have an old workhorse that has never had problems. HP Laserjet 5 - printing a shadow down the left side of page. Advice?

Check for wear, damage or scratches on the drum. Try wiping the drum very gently with a very soft dry cloth. Never use any solvent or chemicals on the drum. If any damage or marls are seen on the drum, or there is a slight build-up of toner on the edge of the drum, you will have to replace the toner cartridge/drum assembly.

The paper feeder rollers are slipping and the paper is not feeding properly. What can I do to fix this?

This is a good workhorse printer -- I serviced these for many years.

You can try cleaning the paper feed rollers with a rag moistened with a little white spirit. This helps remove the paper dust build-up that glazes the rollers and prevents them from gripping the paper.

Eventually, as the rollers become worn, (or, if they are already too worn) you will have to replace them.

How do you turn this on, just plug it in? Somebdody dropped ours in the trash so it had a soft landing, but now is off

Plug in the printer, and move it away from the edge of the counter.

Zebra printers are workhorses, but must go back to the factory for serious repair, costing a significant amount of money.

Pringing is at angle on page - npt streight

it is printing crooked because either one of the rubber rollers is dirty, damaged or just plain worn out. Try cleaning the rubber rollers with some rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work, it may be time to replace. Printers are inexpensive. The old HP deskjets were workhorses but they do wear out, but stick with HP products.

The lcd screen on our HP Laserjet 4 printer is barely readable. Is there something inside the printer that we can replace? We cannot locate a manual for this printer. Other than that, it is a virtual...

My first thought is probably what you've already considered as well...the LCD display is old and the functional elements are wearing out. My second thought was that it would probably be cheaper to replace than to repair. Nevertheless, I can try to address your question with a couple of ideas.

There are actually quite a number of "HP Laserjet 4" printers including the Laserjet 4, 4m, 4plus, 4m plus, and so on. Here's the list:

Product Search Results

Here's the webpage for the actual Laserjet 4:

Laserjet 4 Page

You should find a link to the manual for this product on that page. You can also ask a question directly on the HP support forums:

HP Laserjet Support Forums

Those options should give you your best bet on replacing the LCD if the option is reasonable or possible. Good luck.

It runs but blank pages come out

The problem you will have is that you have not removed a tag on the Toner cartridge. Several of my technicians have done the same thing and caused the exact same issue.

It will be a black tab with a silver plastic strip attached which stops the cartridge releasing toner.

Hope this helps
