Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

After removing a CD from a 6 CD player in a 2004 Suburu Forester X5 and, "possibly" forcing a new CD in the unit it became unresponsive. No action from any of the buttons. Oddly enough the radio will only play on one pushbutton channel. I found a tiny hole above the left side movable vent but could get no release from trying to push a nail in it. How do I remove the radio console cover and any other ideas as to the problem? Is there someone in Seattle who knows how fix this?

Mode button is pressed will not go to CD mode, will not eject CD

Hi what you have described is normal operation unless there is a cd stuck in the machine. If so, then the only course of action is to unpower the radio completely then reconnect it - this may force an eject or the unit may then recognise a disc in the player. if not, then the only course of action is to remove the lid and figure a way of manually winding the disc out without damaging the disc or mechanism.

Have Sony cdp-c535 cd player. The door won't stay in. Keeps cycling in and out.

I had the same problem with our 5-CD Sony carousel player CDP-C535 (manufactured Nov 1993). I removed the top metal cover, and loaded five audio CDs into the carousel. After I closed the table, I pressed the carousel tight so that it stayed close, and hit the play button. The CD player tried to push the carousel out with quite a force. I needed to warp me fingers around the front panel to keep the carousel closed. After a few cycles of forcing the carousel to remain close, and caused two separate strong "clucks" from the gear area, the CD carousel became operational again. The diagnosis of gear problem seems right.

Stuck CD in the multi CD player of 2004 Chevy Malibu Maxx

The only thing that is left for you to do is to remove the stereo and then disassemble it and remove it yourself. A little daunting but needs to be done. Sounds like it went in wrong and then became jammed

Can you put factory sat nav in an X5 when it does not already have it in

Hello There

Yes it is possible to install the factory sat nav in you X5, but apart from the head unit you will also need:

  1. new wiring loom
  2. dvd navigation unit installed at the back
  3. TMC radio unit again at the back
  4. bluetooth unit
All the interior needs to come out i.e seats, floor carpets, door trims.

If you feel brave enough then there are BMW forums which gives you very detailed information on how to to it, but don't expect to get it done in a day or even two, a week is probably realistic time. It took me 2 weeks to do my first 3 series.

Hope this helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Many Thanks
