Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Maytag Washer, top load: Listed 745G Model A112 s/n A90585 TN

Cycle stops, ordered replacement timer assy, does not look the same...need to know if my bought timer is the right one, then need to know how to get the front knob off the timer unit to get to the mounting screws?

My existing unit mounts with two screws on a 45 deg angle the replacement unit sold to me by Maytag local store would mount with screws in a different angle which would throw the timer unit at a 45 deg angle and may interfer with the opening?

Help please!

Wrong part sold to you most electrial parts are non returnable, BE Sure to take the model and serial number off the unit when you go back, if they goofed then they have to eat the wrong part

Maytag top load washing machine repair

Hello,

It sounds like your Maytag (now owned by Whirlpool) Actuator needs to be replaced. Last year our Maytag Centennial top loading washer Model MVWC300XW0 would not drain all the water and cloths would be soaking still. Doing some online research, I came across some very helpful video regarding replacing your Actuator.

The only thing I would recommend to future installers is get your Technician Manual located just inside the case (front panel) first of your Washer. The Technician Manual is taped inside your washer in a plastic bag. Once you replace this Actuator part, I recommend that you run the Calibration cycle on your washer. It is needed anytime you replace a motor, motherboard or pump.

Here are two videos describing how to change/replace the Actuator but these videos are basically for the MVWC300XW0 model. I'm sure if you search for your model, there will be other videos as well.

Two videos on how to replace your Actuator:
1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVjTY-Hj4jw
2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTHryoT78pA (This is video that I viewed the most)

Best of Luck!

My maytag top load washer model #sav2555aww spins but not fast... I replaced the belt and that helped but still not like it did before.. Everything else works fine, any suggestions?

some of these machines have a timer conflict between rinse [ spin pulse ] and full spin at end of wash cycle the timer contacts remain in the pulse cycle the switching assembley may need replacing

My maytag mav6200aww washer stops at the rinse or the spin cycle. However, if I wait about 30 min it will work. Possibly a bad timer? Are they difficult to replace?

If the washer is working properly in the wash cycle & not the rinse or spin cycle, I would suspect a defective timer especially with the delay of 30 mins you described. Replace the timer with this part.

Older Maytag fills with water, but doesn't run.

I have a 20 year old A512 & replaced only a very few items on it (fill valves, belts & air gap).

I would troubleshoot it & repair myself....can you use a voltmeter & are you comfortable exposing the timer / wiring.

My guess is motor (or timer, but less likely since its dead in all cycles). but you've got to get a solid diagnosis so you can order parts.

I suggest oyu find a guy on Craigslsit to repair..
cheers
Bob

Maytag Washer Getting stuckon wash cycle

the possibility of it being the timer is most likely..as the rest of the cycles remain ok.. if you require a timer, you can get one here at this link..(click the link here) http://www.easyapplianceparts.com/AdvancedModelSearch.aspx?ModelNum=HAV4657EWW&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1

please be aware that you will need the machine serial number in order for them to issue you with the correct part/s you will require.. parts are cross referenced with the serial number.

these diagrams will also enlarge in order for you to maintain your machine by yourself at little but the cost of the parts required... but please DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIR YOURSELF if you think you may not have the technical know how to follow these technical drawings..hope this helps
