There is a manual unlocking tab located at the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly. Disconnect power to the washer before accessing it.

Remove the three screws attaching the lower front access panel to the cabinet then pull the panel down and off the cabinet. You can prop up the bottom front edge of the washer or cushion and lean it against the wall to access the screws more easily.

Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the bottom of the door lock and switch assembly on the right side. Locate the tear-drop shaped tab then gently pull it down until a click is heard.

The door lock and switch assembly needs to be replaced if the problem persists. Indicate the exact if you need further advice.

I got the panel off and found the tab you indicated. But when I pull on it, the lock isn't releasing.

The only option now is to replace the door lock and switch assembly. Remove the door gasket retaining hoop by stretching apart the retaining
spring at the bottom of the door opening.

    Gently peel the part of
the door gasket near the door lock and switch assembly off the lip of the
right side of the door opening. Remove enough of the door gasket to
access the door lock and switch assembly behind the front panel.

    Remove
the three screws securing the door lock and switch assembly to the front
panel and slightly lift it then pull it back off the front panel. Pull
the door lock and switch assembly out of the washer and disconnect the
    wiring harness.

Connect the wiring harness to the new door lock and switch assembly and secure it in place behind the front panel then put the eased part of the door gasket
back into position over the lip of the door opening.

    Check that
the door gasket is properly seated before putting back the
retaining hoop around the lip of the door opening and securing the door gasket.

I have a 95 saturn 2 door, the passenger door is stuck closed. The power lock triggers but still wont open from inside or out. Please help!!!

This usually works.
Take a rubber hammer, roll down the window, then manually unlock the door using the inside unlock button (not the power lock button) while you give the door a good whack about half way down where the door lock assembly holds the door closed to the car body.It may take a few whacks and a few lock/unlock cycles but this usually allows the lock to release and you can open the door.NOW.....take off the door panel and lube that lock assembly and don't close the door unless the lock can be locked and UNLOCKED.

My 2000 olds bravada glove box door is stuck open the latch won't let me close it. Even though there is no way to lock it it seems locked! Do I need new latch or can I fix this one?

Your latch might be in the closed position before you even close the door, try using a small screwdriver on the latch while pressing the release button, if it's stuck closed then this will open it to the right position so it will lock closed when you close the door. If this does not work, sometimes the problem is in the striker (the little tab that the lock hits when the door is closed, this usually has 2 small screws holding it in place, you should be able to loosen both screws & adjust the striker forward or backward so the latch will make better contact with it.

GLTF1240ASO Front Door Won't Lock/Close

Most probably your door lock is damaged. You are not supposed to force it open, you have to wait for at least 2 minutes (or till the lock sign is off) after the wash is over to open the door, never force it.
You can just google your model number and search for parts to obtain it. It is quite possible you can change it yourself. See that the line is disconnected from the mains.

Film camera back door won't close

Does it not close or does it not lock? If it does not lock it may be the light seals are obstructing the door. If it will close but not lock open the camera, pull up the rewind knob, see if the release slider is operating.

Popped the lid open to change vacuum cleaner bag...now lid won't close. It's stuck at 90 degree angle. Is a button to release it?

Hi bndennis,

Please check the spring on your lid, it may be keeping the door open. Miele vacuum cleaners mainly use a spring concept for keeping lids open - merely pushing it down will lock it at the bottom.

Kind Regards :-)

The locking mechanism in my door is stuck in the closed position. that little "c" hook isnt moving at all, and my door will not fully close. is there a release latch somewhere?

Open the car door and pull on the release latch that you use to open the car door from the inside to get out. At the same time use a screwdriver to push up the latch on the side of the door. Sometimes the seatbelt gets caught on the door when you close it causing the latch on the side to close prematurely.

Whirlpool duet washer door is open. I can't close it because the latch is stuck in the "locked" position.

The first thing to try is to hold the cancel button for 15 seconds. The more labor intensive solution is this: Remove the panel beneath the door (2 or 3 screws). Reach up, there is a little "ring" beneath the door lock. Pull this down, it releases the mechanism.

There is usually a lock on the inside of the door. Sometimes you can move that while the door is open, else play with the release switch. Once you get it in the open position it should close
