Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I was changing the bag, and while removing it I disconnected the dustbag mechanism from the base of the vacuum. It didn't sound like anything broke when this happened, but I cannot figure out how to reconnect it. I can slide the bottom of the dustbag over the hole in the base and it seems connected, but once I hook the bag up to the top and release the handle, the dustbag falls right off. How do I reconnect it?

My comment on June 3 says
Model: Hoover High Performance Convertible Upright, U4519

Thank you. I did try reposting this problem to add the following:

I have looked for the manual online and I cannot find it. That is why I'm posting this issue to FixYa and paying an expert to offer a solution. Thank you very much for your time.

I see it is a Hoover. Are you sure this is the Model #? I cannot find an owner's manual using U4519.

  • NOT ME Jun 03, 2010

Sorry but I do not see the comments until I post my response.

  • NOT ME Jun 03, 2010

If you go here and ask your question you may get the answer to what you want. Sorry I cannot find the owner's manual which is normally an easy task. You vacuum is far too old for an online manual is what I suspect.

I'm sure that is the case - it's from 1989 and it was an exclusive model sold by Sears. This thing could end up being a collector's item :-))

Thank you for the reference, Clay. If there is anyplace I can get the manual it will probably be there. I appreciate your time.

  • NOT ME Jun 03, 2010

So very sorry I could not do more. I have not given up and will continue to locate a manual online. if I find one I will post a link here for you. Good luck.

Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Epic series 3500SR: The motor runs but not at full power and then quits then will start again.

Check the piece of flex hose between the vacuum body and the power nozzle. This will sometimes get a blockage in it, causing varying motor speeds.
You can remove the tube by grasping it firmly and pulling from the power nozzle. Then twist clockwise to remove it from the vacuum body. Clear blockage with a wooden spoon handle or similar blunt object. Insert tube into body and twist counter-clockwise until tight. Insert other end into power nozzle about an inch, or until it stops.

Another thing to check is the foam filter at the bottom of the bag well. Remove and replace if necessary. If a new one is unavailable, the vacuum can be used until you get a new one. Or rinse the old one out and allow to thorougly air dry before using. Also check the screen covering the motor intake and clean if needed.

Also, if your machine is fitted with a afterfilter on the lower side of the tank, this may need to be removed if dirty.

there is what they call an intake.disconnect the hose and see if it make the same sound.if not then its clogged up in the hose.if it still makes the same sound with the hose off then here is what you have to do.on the top of the base there are 2 slide buttons ,slide them outward to unlock the cover.remove the cover and you will see where the suction intake begins.it will be on your left side as your facing the vcuum.the tube sets into a slot just raise it up and look inside and see if theres anything in there.take a coat hanger with the end bent so it is round and work it down into the tube where you disconnected the hose.if theres anything in there you should be able to push it out with the coat hanger.you can take the bag cover off and remove the bag then you will see the outlet tube that dumps the dirt into the bag.see if there is anything there..see if you can blow into the hose if not thats where the clog is.if so take the hose off completely and put it in the sink and run water through it,better yet take it outside and blow it out with a garden hose

Miele white star canister vacuum - won't turn on, but isn't clogged

Miele S251i Plus Bagged Canister Vacuum
Miele white star canister vacuum - won't turn on,...
Hi,

I have the above canister vac, which after my son tried to vac the stairs, it rolled down the stairs on him, but still worked, after turned off/on. Then after turned off maybe 10-15 mins., stopped working when we tried the switch. My father in law is our fix it guy, but still having a problem with the switch. Is there a wiring guide we could look at?

Thank you!

ALevy

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
You can try to call the factory for the Miele S251i schematics / wiring diagram @ the phone number and website listed below or I put a few pieces of information listed below that might help.
1. The vacuum cleaner switches off automatically
A temperature limiter switches the vacuum cleaner off automatically if it gets too hot. Some models have a warning light (triangle) which comes on to indicate that it has overheated. Allow the appliance to cool down for approx. 30 mins. and remove any blockages to the air path.
2. The "Change dustbag" indicator stays on even when a new bag has been inserted
To ensure the dustbag change indicator gives a correct reading, lift the floor nozzle or power head off the floor slightly to prevent the vacuum created in the suction tube from influencing the reading.
3. The exhaust filter indicator is red
Change the exhaust filter and then press "Reset" to switch off the indicator light.
