Question about NetGear DG834G Router

Unable to connect EpsonTX710W Printer viaNetGear DG384

I have a netgear DG384 V3 modem. I have a desktop connected via ethernet to the modem. I have an Epson TX710W printer connected by ethernet to the modem. I have a notebook which uses the netgear PCI Card to connect to the modem. The phone line is connected to the modem and we have ADSL. The desktop can see the printer and internet. The notebook (connecting wirelessly to the modem) can see the internet but it can not see the printer. It is configured to access the modem using the netgear network software (that came with the modem). 1) Why can I not get the notebook to see the printer over the wireless connection (via the netgear modem). ????

    This didn't actually help.

I ended up reinstalling the Epson TX710W with the notebook connected to the modem with an Ethernet cable.

In the installation I had to choose the option that this was the first time the printer was being initialised (was done for previous machine) .... perhaps the question is ambiguous and means first time for that the printer was being initilaised for this notebook.

It found everything and could then work wirelessly ....

This may have worked wirelessly if I had chosen the "first time" option originally.

    Many Thanks for your help,

    Mike.

On your Laptop go to Control Panel-> Printers-> and then add printer. Select the option of network printer and search for your printer. If found add it.

Or Else check the ip of printer from ports tab in printer properties on desktop computer ans search your printer with ip address on Laptop.

Followed all the set up steps but my DSL light would not stay on

  • 1 Plug the Ethernet cable into the Internet port on your wall. If you do not have Internet ports installed in your home, connect a phone line adapter to a phone line jack. The adapter makes the phone line wider so Ethernet cables can connect to it. This does not block your phone from use.
  • 2 Plug the other end of the Ethernet cable into the Internet port on the back side of the Netgear DSL modem.
  • 3 Connect the Netgear DSL modem to a local power source. The power plug inserts into the modem via a small port on the rear of the modem.
  • 4 Insert a second Ethernet cable into one of the numbered ports on the back of the modem. Run the cable to your computer and plug it into the Ethernet port on the computer.
  • 5 Look on the back end of the DSL modem for an HTTP: address. Type this into your Internet browser's search bar. The Netgear DSL modem menu appears on the screen.
  • 6 Select how many computers are to use the modem, if you are using it with other DSL modems and set up a password (the default username and password is "admin"). Click "OK" to initiate the changes you made to the menu. You can now use your Netgear DSL modem to connect to the Internet.

If you mean phone modem on PC then no. Check connection between pc and router by acessing the webinterface (instuctions in linksys user manual).

If all OK there then contact your ISP.

CHANGE FROM WIRELESS TO WIRED INTERNET CONNECTION

It is possible .. just get youself an ethernet cable .. connect one end to your router and the other end to the back of the pc ( ethernet port ) .. and u will be connected via the wire.. You can disable the wireless connection from the router for that you can either call your Internet service provider or the netgear support team.

Netgear WGR614 router with USB Cable Modem

When working with routers, CAT-5 cables are the more usual cable used. Your modem's Ethernet Port --- connect it via cable to the router's WAN input. Connect one of the router's LAN outputs to your computer's LAN input with another CAT-5 cable. Go through the appropriate Router Setup by putting http://192.168.1.1 into your Internet Explorer, with ' admin ' for User Name, and no password (just press Enter in Password frame). Once you are in to the router setup, you can select your Network Name (SSID) and then implement whatever Security you might want to use. You should be up and running by now, nhave lots of fun!

I have a printer attached via USB to a wi-fi connected desktop in a WGR614g network which supports an additional ethernet-connected desktop and two wi-fi laptops. Can I make the printer wi-fi accessible...

Do a search engine hunt for a "WIRELESS PRINT SERVER" and you'll bring up a Netgear WGPS606 for about $60-80 or a Linksys for $36-150 (the same one :-)).

The Netgear has 2 USB A ports and 4 ethernet ports. You plug in your printer, activate the wireless part to receive a signal and you have a networked USB printer.

I assume the Linksys works exactly the same way, except it may not have the additonal 4-port ethernet switch.

Motorola Surfboard 4220 not working with my Netgear WGT624 router

Make sure that you have the ethernet cord from your modem plugged into the WAN/Internet port on your router. Then unplug the power cord from your cable modem and plug it right back in. After the modem fully comes back online, unplug the power cord on the wireless router and plug it back in. wait 30 - 60 sec and then try and connect.

Most cable companies only allow one active"CPE" at a time for internet access. All this means is when you change what is connected to the cable modem you must always reboot the cable modem to allow access.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it does not work.

    Please rate.

    Wireless routers

Just plug the cable modem ethernet into the input to your router and you will be fine. Just remember, if you decide you want to make any changes to your router settings through your browser, make sure you hook up an ethernet line from your laptop to the router before making any changes. The reason for this is if you make a change in security settings on your router while wireless, the router will reboot and if your laptop did have the settings changed in it, you can be locked out.
Not that you can't get back in, but it is a pain to have to do.
