Just replaced the shocks, no luck. The banging sound only happens at the spin cycle when it really starts to ramp up.

Move the basket or the drive pulley side to side then up and down to check if it appears loose due to a broken spider assembly for a front load washer. Start a new load and check if the banging is consistent during the wash cycle or not.

Please indicate the make and exact model number of the washer and also provide more information about the issue such as how old the washer is to make the troubleshooting fast and more precise. The advice provided is based on first hand experience and on the information provided. The more information provided, the more likely the problem is determined and addressed fast and easily.

You should followed the given instructions before replacing the shocks as the banging is usually caused by a worn bearing or in worst case a broken spider assembly if the washer ages 6 or 7 years old die to corrosion. A worn shock absorber usually causes minor or violent vibrations during the spin cycle.

Kenmore 400 make loud banging noise at end of the spin cycle

It sounds like the drive block may be stripped out. To check it, you will need to remove the agitator to see if it is bad. Below is a video to show you how to access the drive block. Here is the part to order if you should find it bad.

If the drive block is good, post back to me and we will continue the diagnostics on the unit.

On wash cycle it makes a loud banging noise

Hello, The banging noise is from loose lower front weight mounting bolts or a loose bolt securing the driven pulley. Check the motor adjustment bolt for tightness. The noise could be from a loose wire harness, plastic purse-lock wire harness retainer on upper hose hitting the top cover or a plastic injection mold standoff on the outer tub bearing housing may possibly be interfering with the driven pulley. Also, check the drive belt for a weak spot on the belt. Usually felt on the backside of the belt as a "flat" spot. Check the belt for a weak seam and replace it.
It may also occur due to the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it.
Thanks

Kenmore 80 Series washing machine - loud banging at end of spin

With the lid open, set the cycle to spin and press the lid switch button with a pen. Wait until the drum gets to full speed and release the lid switch. If the drum makes a knocking/ thumping noise and doesn't stop spinning within 2-3 seconds, the basket drive block is worn and needs to be replaced. (The basket drive block is located on the gearcase drive shaft, under the tub and agitator) If this has been happening for a long time you may need to replace the brake and drive tube assembly as well.

Basket drive block part number is 389140

If that's not it, let me know and I will try to help you further.
Good luck!

Washer Doesn't move from cycle to cycle

this washer has a problem with the lid hinge screws coming loose. check the left hand hinge and you will find the screws loose.
this cause the lid switch to not engage and then nothing will happen until it thinks the lid is closed.
try to tighten the screws and listen to see if the switch "clicks" when you open and close the lid.
that should fix it until the screws come loose again.

Boom and Bang Washing Machine

Bed sheets or comforters will often get out of balance in the spin cycle or during the rinse cycle. Throw some towels in there next time at least 5 big ones. They are engineered to take a little of this banging, it should only happen once in a while.
