Hi swizz33 onthe VIP211 receiver there are many different connections you can use besidesthe HDMI cable to connect your VIP211. You can use the RCA cable as well as aCOAX cable and there are the Component cables you may use and all of those typesof cables will give you picture and sound.

I have a Sony model KF-50WE610 tv. We moved it today and once it was set back up the picture is black and white. I have checked all connections, cables, and signal and nothing makes a difference. It is...

The cables connected are in the wrong spaces, either on the receiver or the television. Using component style cables, Green, Red, Blue for video, and White, Red for audio, one of the video cables is in the wrong spot. Using RCA type cables, Yellow for video, White, Red for audio, the Yellow is inserted into a green component somewhere. The ViP 722 is compatible with HDMI, which has a much higher resolution (1080p max with the ViP 722) and a better refresh rate (the ViP 722 max is 30Mhz), and as there is only one cable for both audio and video, is much easier to use, if your TV is compatible, you should look into using HDMI instead,

My VP 612 will not give a signal to the 2nd TV. We had a have a VIP 211 and it works fine.

Hi there Rick, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. It is my pleasure to help you. A VIP 612 is a single receiver, meaning it can only control one tv independently, if you do have a second Tv connected it is mirrored correct? (meaning it watches/shares the same programming as the main TV connected directly to the receiver) If so, the TV connected with RG6 cable must be on channel 3 in order to receive a picture. Feel free to reach me at: kimberly.escobar@dish.com if you have any additional questions or concerns.

I have a dish 625 receiver and i wanted to know if i could use an rca to hdmi cable to connect receiver to hd tv

ashlinlow,

You can definitely use an RCA to HDMI converter, though since our 625 receivers do not have HD capability it won't improve the picture at all. If you would like to look into upgrading to HD equipment, you can reach me directly at thomas.faust@dish.com!

What is the difference between the dish network vip 211 and 211k? thank you

Hello, Nick Franta with DISH Network Customer Service here.

The main difference between the 211 and 211k in terms of everyday usage would not be noticeable. The variation in model number is mainly used just in the type of equipment needed in the set up for installation.

If you have any further questions just let us know!

Box does not recognize hdmi

Hello, Daniel Busa with Dish Network here. The easiest way to tell if your box has a bad hdmi port onthe backm, is to remove the hdmi cord from the receiver and connect it to a blue ray player or other device. If it works the port is most likely bad. Otherwise I would recommend a hard reset, if you have a surround sound receiver cycle the inputs on it and make sure everything is on the proper input/source.

I can see in RCA output but canot in HDMI

Hey there! My name is Becki Barned, and I am with Dish Network customer service. This may have already been resolved, but if not, or if you have any other questions, I would be more than happy to help you out!!! There are a few reasons that you could be having problems with your HDMI cable. One being, that the tv may not be on the correct input. Remember, your tv must be on an HDMI input in most cases! Another reason, of course, could be that your cable is corrupted, or not working properly. Try unplugging the receiver from the power source for about 10 seconds, and try, if you're able. a different spot on the tv for the HDMI, then match the input to that. (Most tvs are labeled HDMI 1/2 so forth). If that doesn't work, or you have any other questions, blog back!!!!!

Hi guys, I bought new HD TV I have Dish receiver,# VIP211hd. Tv is not seeing HDMI signal. Tried three diff cables into all 4 ports on tv. DVD player works in any of them .Dish tells me output is port...

This is a really difficult problem to answer correctly on the first try but here we go. Some tvs will not recognize the introduction of a new component without unplugging the tv for about 30 seconds with the component connected and powering the tv back on. The issue I believe Dish was trying to convey was to make sure the port you plug the receiver into is turned on in the tv menu. Since the dvd works in any of them this seems to be the case. I f you have further difficulties you should contact the tv manufacturer for assistance as they are more familiar with teaching the tv to communicate with the receiver than Dish personell will be in most cases.
