Question about Whirlpool GHW9400 Duet Washer

Cycle stops after 25 seconds and time light start blinking

Six year old unit. Problem with F6 code about two months ago but reset after unplugging and had been working well.

Today the wash cycle stops after about 25 seconds and time light starts blinking. Pushed end of cycle button over 3 seconds - sometimes it worked but then same problem. Unplugged washer and after waiting up to 15 minutes and plugging back in then same problem - did several times waiting a shorter duration. Unplugged then disconnected and reconnected wire connections after removing top of washer. Control unit? Timer? Help

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F6 is drive motor tachometer error, which means that the control is unable to detect the motor speed properly and so the machine will shut down. If this happens at high speed spin the door will get unlocked after 3 minutes. To resolve the issue you’ll need to:

  • Check wire harness connections between the Drive Motor/Tachometer and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check the Drive Motor
  • Check the MCU
  • Check the Wire Harness

However, from what you have described the issue seems to be with the control unit that should be replaced, but still check all the above things. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

    Rylee:

Just to confirm your recommendations. Even though there has been no error code and the time is blinking when the cycle stops, this is an indication that the controller needs to be replaced if the fixes you suggested do not work. Correct?

    Thanks,

    Mike

All the lights light up, but washer won't fill when I push the start button. It is barely 3 years old. This happened before and then after I left it a while, when I pushed start it filled. I tried...

Unplug the machine for one minute. Plug back in and raise and lower the lid six times within 12 seconds. You may need to do it several times before it resets. After resetting the inverter board, put the machine in a spin cycle and see if it runs. If not, check for a green blinking light on the inverter board. It will flash failure codes according to the picture above. If no light you probably have a blown fuse built into the neutral side of the harness on the white/red wire.

The washer is only 1.5 years old and has been working fine until a recent power outage. After the poer was restored, the spin cycle quit working. Any suggestions?

Reset the motor is what you must do.

To Reset the Inverter Board: Push the timer knob in so the washer is idle. Unplug the machine for one minute. Plug back in and raise and lower the lid six times within 12 seconds.

After resetting the inverter board, put the machine in a spin cycle and see if it runs. If not, check for a green blinking light on the inverter board. Same problem

It sounds like the classic "timer problem" that requires a "kit" (mostly capacitors) to repair it. To have someone do it (such as your service person) for you can be expensive and time consuming. Sets that are 5 or more years old usually have other problems too which, simply put, is a complete cleaning of all mirrors, fans, and filters.

TV shut off while watching and won't come back on

It seems this is a self diagnostic function. the official sony codes are as follows

  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
  • Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.
It sounds like you have a video input problem. Have you unhooked all inputs from the TV and tried to power it back on by itself? Hope this helps

Kenmore Elite won't start

First of all, make sure haven't inadvertently locked your control panel. Press and hold the DRAIN/SPIN button for 3 seconds to see if it clears. How long did you unplug the washer for? The manufacturer recommends unplugging the washer for at least 30 minutes to reset the computer. Try this first and let me know what you have. It could be you only have a minor glitch.

If these preliminary checks prove unsuccessful, you may have a control panel problem. Do you have any error codes deisplayed? Please reply and let me know what you have.

Buick Skylark won't start. intermittant problem

Had similar problem Does the 'theft system' light come on or blink? If so, get it checked out by a good electronic troubleshooter. If it doesn't start, try locking and unlocking driver door twice, and it should reset and start.
