Question about KitchenAid KSCS25FKSS Side by Side Refrigerator

Fridge not cold and freezer not freezing

We bought this Kitchenaid side by side fridge from Lowe's in Oct. 2006. This morning I wake up to find that the icemaker is leaking water onto the kitchen floor. I open the freezer and find the ice melting. It looks like the top portion of the freezer/fridge is not cooling. I don't hear the fan that usually is on. The items on the top shelf of my freezer/fridge were not cold or even frozen like usual. I pulled the fridge from the wall to look at the back. I vacuumed the dust from the back and underneath from the fridge...thinking that would help. I'm sure what else to do. It's Memorial Day and of course no one is answering at the Lowe's Service # I tried calling. Can someone help?

Cleaning the dust from the condensor is what I would have done first. the second suspect is the thermostat. When they go out, they either make the refrig freeze up or just go out. the last thing would be the compressor to go out. Cleaning the condensor coil is recomended at least once a year. A good toilet brusk and "Dawn" dish soap works great! The last thing is of corse, a service call. good luck,Lloyd

Refreg. running too much and NOT cooling? The "Gasket may be split or NOT sealing completely. A thin film of Petrolium Jelly (Vasoline) coating the gasket twice a year makes the gasket more plyable, less prone to cracking and less apt to binding and Twisting when the door opens and closes.

you have a bad damper assy.when it gets cold enough in the fridge section the damper door closes so the cold air can't blow in from the freezer side, the door isn't closing allowing the cold air to keep coming into the fridge side 2220377 part number and this is electronic damper.if you order it from repair clinic you have 365 days to return it if it's damaged or it isn't your problem they will take it back,i'm 99 percent positive that this is your problem, when i would call the customer and get model number and ask a few questions i would take this with me when i go to the house from the discription you're giving.

Freezer and fridge cooling but freezer not freezing and fridge not cold enough

Hello,
Their are a couple things that could be causing that.

The conderser coils under the kickplate below the doors is clogged with dust. Remove the kickplate and check/clean using a refrigerator coil brush that could be purchased from your local hardware store (Lowe's HomeDepot Ace hardware)

The condenser fan motor behind the refrig., behind the lower service plate directly next to the compressor isn't running and needs to be replaced.

Good luck,i hope this helps you to get your refrig back to cold,
Gene

Not getting cold, freezer freezes food but refrigerator cool..

The fridge gets it cold air from the freezer. There is like an air tunnel that goes from the freezer (usually in the back) to your fridge to provide cold air.

What probably happened it the tunnel is blocked with ice or another liquid. The easiest thing to do is unplug the fridge for 24 hour so the ice can melt.

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Freezing in refrigerator

Inside the fresh food compartment on top left there is something called an air baffle. It runs between the freezer and fresh food compartment and its purpose is to electrically control the amount of cold air coming from the freezer. Sometimes they freeze open and will not close. So you may need to turn off the refrigerator during the time you examine it. Look for ice blocking the movement of the baffle damper. Sometimes just one time clearing the problem is all you need to fix it. Let me know what you find and if you are able to get it going again, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Your water hose that connects to the back of the freezer may be loose. Move the fridge out away and in the back make sure it is tightend.

Let me know if it helped :)
