I have a bosch fridge freezer model kgu3220 gb. It is ten years old. For the last few days, the fridge isn't cooling but the freezer works fine. The temperature on control panel is stuck on 11 degrees. I...

Once the fridge is shut OFF for few hours to defrost and then switched ON , if the fridge works with cooling , then the fault is with the AUTO DEFROST TIMER or the circuit -maybe the heater, break in the lines to the timer, heater, the fan.
The build up frost will block the flow of cool air to the fridge from the freezer evaporator.
So remove and check.

My kenmore refrig is 10yrs old.i replaced the thermostat 3 times already,it freezes at the top and doesnt get cold at the bottom.then all of the sudden it blows warm air

It is possible that the cooling coils are getting choked after ice forms in the system as it is not defrosting accordingly in the auto mode . so please put off the fridge for some hours to drains off all the ater inthe cooling coils and thenput it on. If the fridge works fine for the first 8 hopurs and then the cooling drops, you have fault in the auto timer circuit. check the timer, the heater and the wires leading to it as it can get worn out with the water formation. Use a meter to test and replace timer if it is not ticking. Hope you get this right. Good day

How do test the timer on my fridge model # tbx1451sdrwh

Good day,
With the machine on and running turn the shaft of the timer clockwise until the machine shuts off. With the machine still on, wait a minimum of 35 minutes.
If the machine turns itself back on, the timer is good. If it fails to restart after 45 minutes it's bad, and needs replaced.
If your issue is the machine won't auto defrost, the most common problem is the defrost thermostat which is clipped to the top of the cooling coil. It's a round small device, and looks something like this.

da0bcb1.jpg
It's by far the most common problem. Next to that the main quartz heater clipped to the bottom of the cooling coil runs second, but any one of the 3 can fail.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

ROPER RS22AQXMQ SIDE BY SIDE REFRIGERATOR PROBLEM

I had the same problem with a top freezer. I found that the thermostat was bad by tapping on the it at the setting knob. The defrost timer was replaced first which did not help (repairman put in a timer for a Frigadair which will not work in a Roper). If one is used for a frigadair as soon as it cycles it will not work again until it is unplugged and allowed to reset. I replaced both the thermostat and the right defrost timer. It has worked great for over 2 months.

Hope this helps.
