Question about Haier Mechanical Air Conditioner HWF05XC7

Haier AC Won't start

This portable AC unit was working fine. We thought we blew a fuse, but it was just the Surge protector tripped. We turned it off to run the microwave & toaster oven so as to not trip the surge protector again. When I hit the On switch, it started for a half a second then stopped. It would not start again. We let it rest all afternoon, and it still would not start. Everything else is working at this outlet and there are no blown fuses. Is there a reset switch? Thanks Dana

I had the same problem with a different model. I tested the cord, it worked, but still would not turn on. Well, after two days my friend and I decided we would try to replace the battery in the remote---it worked! Try your remote battery.

Monster 1250g does not turn on

Surge protectors either have a switch that trips or a fuse that blows when high current passes through. This is a safety mechanism that protects your appliances from an "electrical surge".

The fuse is most likely blown. you can easily check if the fuse still works with a multimeter. If it isnt, change it and the strip should start working again. ( if u have a reset button on the spike, try hittin that. Im not sure if this model has a fuse or the breaker switch that trips.)

The condenser unit will not kick on...it is a concord unit,10=12 years old,13 seer,3 ton. The air handler works fine. I thought it was the capacitor. The old one was bad,I verified that with multimeter....

It could be a low refrigerant cut-out (switch), grounded or shorted motor windings, open internal winding overload protector (check at the common winding), a broken conductor, or no power at condensing unit from blown fuses or open/tripped breaker.

SPLIT AC CONDENSER TRIPS AFTER 1 OR 2 MINS, ONLY DURING THE DAY TIME

The condensor is not cooling fast enough. Try cleaning the condensor coil. Also check that the fan goes on. At night the outside temperature is cooler and does not need much work to cool down the condensor.

We had a power surge in our living room while the TV was on. It was also plugged into a surge protector, however, everything else turned back on but the TV. There is no power going into it at all, as if...

Sounds like it might have blew a fuse on the AC input to the power supply, have to remove the back and look for a fuse near where the AC wires go from the plug on the tv. If the fuse is good
the power supply board will have to be checked or replaced..Next time consider buying a surge
protector that starts clamping at a lower voltage. Panamax brands usually start going to work
at 150v rms, where most others start at 330v rms..

My 50" Plasma blew a 8amp fuse at the power supply. I replaced it, and the TV works again, buy why would this fuse have blown in the first place?

if the fuse was at the or near the AC plug chances are your got a power surge, if you did you got very lucky the fuse was there you might want to get a surge protector on the set ... But sometime you get just a defective fuse as long as the set is working I would not worry about it

Our power went out and ever since then, the television won't work. It was on a surge protector, but the tv repair man that I consulted said those are over-rated. Please help!!

Many devices marketed as surge suppressors are actually 'temporary power taps'.

The rear of the surge protector unit should show the UL-rating of the device. If it's listed as a UL-TVSS, that's a surge suppressor. If it says 'Temporary power tap' then the only surge suppression may be a resettable circuit breaker, through which lightning could pass unchecked.

Most likely the TV power supply has failed, and the cost/complexity of the replacement all depends on the local repair shop. Modern LCD-TV power supplies are typically a $200 part, plus a similar cost for labor. If it simply blew an internal fuse, an honest shop would fix it for under $100, I would guess.

With respect to surge suppressors, the leader in this field is APC (amercian power conversion) and several other good brands are TrippLite and Panamax. These devices are not dirt cheap, but you get what you pay for.
