If your dryer has an access panel on the bottom see if you can get it opened.if you can turn on the dryer ,you should hear a click and after@ 30 seconds the igniter should start to glow.if it dose not your igniter could be broken.shut off the dryer, pull the plug and check it for a crack. If it dose glow and it goes out but don't get a flame you could need a flame sensor or a set of coils for the gas valve

My gas dryer doesn't heat very well, if at all. Do I need to replace parts or are there ways do check and clean parts.

First i would clean the dryer vent. If the vent is clogged then the dryer cannot circulated the air inside the dryer. This will cause long dry times. If the dryer heats at first then doesnt heat anymore after about 10 min you probably need new coils

Dry will not blow heat

Check the entire exhaust vent tubing before buying anything for this dryer to repair.. Most dryers only need a good cleaning to get the heat back running correctly. A moister sensor is working if the lint build up is more than just dust in the vents tubes. Any build up the sensor detects and keeps the heat off. Sometrime you will get heat for awhile although it will shut the burner down quit soon

Amana NEW7200TW (1 year old) runs, but stopped heating.

Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

NO HEAT WITH AMANA GAS DRYER ALG120RAW

Check the following to address this issue..

Gas valve coils
Igniter glows, then shuts off without igniting gas - the problem is probably with defective coils (black, located on top of the gas valve). It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Note: Sometimes the whole gas valve may be defective, thus not letting the gas out. However, this problem is not common.

Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

Igniter
Igniter may burn out or break. Replace the igniter if found defective.

Note: Igniters are very fragile and break easily. It is recommended to handle the igniter only touching the ceramic part of it (usually white in color).

Flame sensor (or radiant heat sensor)
Replace the sensor (located near the igniter) if found defective.
