Check the plug that goes directly to the altec box. or it could be the wire is the culprit..

Speakers wont come on

Lets start with the basics.
1. Make sure the power cord to the computer speakers are plugged in. Check at the wall and make sure the power cord is connect to the back of the speaker. If there is a power button make sure it is pressed in the on position. Make sure the volume level is turned up.
2. Check the computer and make sure the sound is not on mute. Turn the volume level up from the computer settings.
3. Try playing some music. If you hear sound you are good to go.
4. If you are not able to hear anything than continue. I would suggest plugging your speakers into you cell phone. Try playing some music from your cell phone.
5. If music plays through the speakers from your cell phone, something is wrong with the computer. If no sound plays with your cell phone then something is wrong with the speakers.
6. If worse comes to worse bring your computer into a computer store. Tell the salesman you want to buy a new set of speakers. You just want to make sure your computer works with the speakers before you buy them.
7. If all else fails, ask a local tech you trust.

Hi

You do not say which operating system you are using. My answer can therefore only be general rather than specific to your operating system.

The Video Camera you tried to install probably has an in-built microphone. Connecting this is may have changed the default settings for your audio devices.

You have a number of options for fixing this problem.

SYSTEM RESTORE
Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Restore my computer to an earlier time > selected a highlighted date in the calendar and an Event in the schedule before the date you tried to install the video camera > restore > restart the computer (you should hear the windows logon on tones if you are using a windows operating system) > (My) Music > Sample Music > double click on any track to test the sound playback.

AUDIO SETTINGS
Start > Control Panel > Audio devices > Audio (Playback Devices) > Set Defaults (set the Speakers to be the Default Playback devices > apply > ok > restatrt computer > (My) Music > Sample Music > double click on any track to test the sound playback.

AUDIO/SOUND DRIVERS
Reinstalling the Audio/Sound Drivers would also probably resolve the problem by restoring your Default Audio settings, if you have the Driver CD for your Laptop or Desktop Motherboard > install Audio/Sound Driver > restart computer > (My) Music > Sample Music > double click on any track to test the sound playback.

I cannot direct you to a driver download site, because you have given no information about your computer.

The problem may be the fact that you have two drivers loaded simultaneously. Try removing each one separately, rebooting your computer and using the other one to see if that fixes the problem.

Depending on what operating system (OS) you are using, you will need to go into the Control Panel and select "Add or Remove Programs" to remove the driver.

If you are not able to remove it that way, you can restore your computer to an earlier configuration using the Restore command. Note: buttons you click on are shown here in UPPERCASE.

If you're using Windows XP, click START, then RUN and type the following, without the quote marks:
"%systemRoot%\System32\Restore\Rstrui.exe"

then click OK.
On the "Welcome to System Restore" page, click "Restore my computer to an earlier time" (if it's not already selected) and click NEXT.

On the "Select a Restore Point" page, click the system checkpoint, which should be a date earlier than when you first loaded the driver(s). In the "On this list select the restore point" area, click an entry that is named "Guided Help (Registry Backup)", and then click NEXT. If a "System Restore" message appears that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make, click OK.

On the "Confirm Restore Point Selection" page, click NEXT. System Restore then restores the previous Windows XP configuration and restarts the computer. Log on. When the "System Restore confirmation" page appears, click OK.

You can use the System Restore command to undo many different problems caused by loading programs, drivers, etc. I believe the procedure is similar if you are using Vista or Windows 7, but the window names may not be exactly the same.

I hope this helps.
Good luck!

All speakers on x-530 pass test but no sound comes from the center speaker when movies or music is played

Is the speaker system set up in Windows as a 5.1 speaker system? If so, the problem with the sound is the program used to play the audio. For example if you are watching a movie and the player used does not support 5.1 then it will not play the audio properly. If the sound works correctly playing a game in 5.1 you should be able to figure it out from there.

No sound from speakers

Believe it or not, not all speaker plugs, even if they are of the same size are NOT made the same. Some times the "male" PLUG pushes into the "female" socket in such a way that it makes NO connection or does not make the right connection causing the headphones not to work.
TEST: play music that u can hear through the internal laptop speakers, and while the music is playing, plug in the headphones.
The internal speakers SHOULD cut out, and under normal conditions the music should pass through the headphones.
If the speakers cut out and the headphones don't work, your plug is damaged.
If the speakers DON'T cut out after u plug in the headphones, your plug is open.
Depending on the audio circuit, your audio amp. inside the laptop is going to get damaged.
It depends on the WAY the audio circuit was made.

Speakers All Cut out Including Sub When Music is Played Loud

UNPLUG THE GREEN WIRE FROM THE COMPUTER AND PLUG IT INTO A CD PLAYER IF IT WORKS BETTER ON A CD PLAYER THAN THE COMPUTER IT SELF THERE MAYBE A PROBLEM WITH THE SOUND CARD AND ALSO TRY THESE STEPS I AM GOING TO GIVE YOU I AM SURE ONE OF THEM WILL WORK.

1. Please ensure that the all the connections between the satellite speakers and the subwoofer are firmly connected.
2. Next, please connect the green colored 3.5mm audio jack to another audio device such as an iPod or an MP3 player.
3. Ensure that the SoundTouch remote control is firmly connected to the back of the subwoofer.
4. Connect the power cord from the subwoofer and connect it to another single power outlet in your house. If you have an automated voltage regulator (AVR), please connect the power cord through the AVR instead of connecting it directly to a power outlet in your house.
5. Power up the speaker system and check whether the power button on the SoundTouch remote control will light up.
6. Turn on the Matrix Mode ON. This option is on the SoundTouch remote control. This is to ensure all speakers from the speaker system will produce audio that will be played from the audio device.
7. Play audio from the audio device. Check and see whether the all the speakers will produce audio being played from the audio device.

IF NONE WORK TRY THESE STEPS:
