This would surely indicate an issue with the mainboard of your computer since even after replacing the battery you are unable to get the battery to be recognised and the computer shutsdown automatically so what you could do is contact technical support and setup a repair for your computer.

My zg5 laptop battery will not power my laptop.battery is new. fully charged.

Hi John,

For the sake of clarity: the battery which will not charge/power your Acer Aspire One Netbook is the original battery that came with the Acer, is this correct?
Assuming that the answer is Yes then replacement with a NON Acer, universal battery is the only solution.
Reputable internet shops, such as Amazon, have these at around $50...
DANGER; Due to the recall of thousands of Acer (HP and others) batteries with a possible fire hazard please dispose of promptly and properly.

There are several steps you can take to help you get maximum performance from your Laptop Battery:
Prevent the Memory Effect - Keep the Laptop Battery healthy by fully charging and then fully discharging it at least once every two to three weeks. Exceptions to the rule are Li-ion batteries which do not suffer from the memory effect.
Keep the Acer Laptop Battery Clean - It's a good idea to clean dirty battery contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. This helps maintain a good connection between the battery and the portable device.
Exercise the Battery - Do not leave the battery dormant for long periods of time. We recommend using the battery at least once every two to three weeks. If a Laptop Battery has not been used for a long period of time, perform the new battery break in procedure described above.
Battery Storage - If you don't plan on using the Laptop Battery for a month or more, store it in a clean, dry, cool place away from heat and metal objects. Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Li-ion batteries will self-discharge during storage; remember to recharge the batteries before use.

How long must a battery be on charge for it to be fully charged.

2 hours is enough for a battery to be completely charged...

Once the battery is charged you can remove the power supply and use the laptop till the battery drains up to 10% to 14%......
This will increase the life time of battery... If you keep on charging the battery continuously when using your laptop, then the battery life will be shortened very soon...
So charge and drain the battery properly... This will increase the life time of battery...

Hi my acer aspire one charg only 79 % not 100% plz solve my problam

    Remove the Battery
Sometimes the battery may get dislodged from its chamber due to some movement. This will inadvertently mean that laptop battery will not charge since it is not placed in the right position. Removing the battery and then placing it back in its place properly will show you if this was the reason why the laptop battery was not charging when plugged in. There are a number of connectors that work in tandem when the battery is being charged, and the displacement of even one of these components leads to the laptop battery not charging problem.

    Refresh the Battery
Some manufacturers of laptops provide the option of refreshing the battery after it has been used for a period of time, in order to enhance and prolong its life. Read the manual that you received with your laptop and check if this service is available to you. This can be carried out by entering the BIOS or the CMOS setup, and the instructions for this will also be provided in the manual for your laptop.

    Replace the Battery
In all likelihood, the reason why yours Acer Aspire One is not charging is that the battery has worn out. Like all electronic components, the laptop battery is also culpable to deterioration over time, and due to this it may not be getting charged at all. In such a situation, you have no choice but to simply replace the battery with a new one. This will solve all your problems and also give your laptop a new lease of life. You may wish to know more about how batteries work.

Acer Aspire 5738Z won't hold charge

Sorry. It seems that your battery is dead.
If your laptop is working fine on AC power only (with the battery disconnected), then your battery will need to be replaced.

You ordered the wrong battery, theres two types, your original would have been 11.1v if you check the new one it will be 14.8v. They are not compatable.

New 6600 mAh battery won't charge

Is the AC adapter the original that came with the laptop or is it a replacement?
Check the label on the laptop (on the bottom of the laptop) for the voltage and current requirements.
Check voltage output of the adapter with a multimeter, this voltage should be slightly higher that the voltage than what is shown on the adapter's label because there is no load on the adapter.
It could be that the current (amps) that the adapter is delivering less power than the laptop's requirements, whilst it can power the laptop it may not be sufficient to charge the battery fully.
Try charging the battery overnight by shutting down the laptop but leaving it connected to the mains. Then boot up the laptop in the morning and check the battery's charge state. If the battery is at or near full capacity, then the problem is a (part) faulty adapter.

    Laptop power connection faulty

    Hallow Dear,

As your explanation about Battery issue simply I’m advising you to replace your battery with original one.

But before that there is one thing that you can try it out.

---Use your laptop until battery goes down & shutdown automatically then remove the battery and try to discharge it completely with small bulb manually

When it’s on completely discharge (0 Volt) keep it on Outdoor Sunlight about 12 hours.

After that connect it to your laptop & recharge it completely (until Computer LEDs showing you as Fully Charged)

Until its Showing you as fully charged

That will be nice if you can check Battery Voltage & Amperage manually as it is charged fully before turn on your laptop. (if not you can give more charging time accordingly)

This will not solve your any component (thermal fuse, vRegulate) problems inside your battery but will increase your battery Cells Life and most vStoraging problems on Cells inside your battery

    Thank you & Best Regards
