I'm leaning towards handle adapter over cartridge. It is plastic and doesn't tolerate a lot of stress. Go to the link below for parts breakdown and A/S hotline number at the bottom left of page. A/S should also be able to provide you with the correct replacement cartridge and/or part number for your roman tub faucet.

Excess Hit Water Bill from Solar/electric Hot Water System

10-30-12
Cost calculations for recirculation system vary widely.
These systems cost more, and they cause higher operation cost of water heater.

1) When pump is OFF, then hot water is no longer leaving the tank.
Most recirculation systems have choice of timer for setting specific times of operation, or thermostatic operation that activates pump when sensor detects temperature less than 90 degrees
BUT...

2) Condition of plumbing is suspect here because you are not receiving fully 90 degree hot water from the recirculation system.?.

Bad single-handle faucet cartridge, or bad recirculation check valve, are causes of crossover. Clean recirculation check valve with white vinegar. Replace worn faucet cartridge.
Test for crossover.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Crossover.html

3) There are other suspects, such as water leak.
Drips, broken pipe, bad TP valve.
Turn off all taps and put ear against pipe to listen for running water.
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-electric-problems-with-water-heater.html#listen

4) High costs: Lifting single-handle faucet in middle will immediately cause cold water to enter tank. Even if no hot arrives at tap, because the cartridge is drawing both hot and cold in equal amounts when handle is lifted in middle.
Today it is more efficient to install dual-handle faucets so tank is not receiving constant dose of cold water when single-handle faucet is not used correctly or tediously.

Water Ridge Nannini series pull out kitchen faucet rotating at base instead of where it should.

I just fixed our Nannini from Costco. The screens were plugged with plastic filings coming from our water lines. On our faucet there is more than one screen.
The pull out faucet has the basic screen like 99% of the taps out, right on the end. It comes apart by first unscrewing it from the handle and gently (gently) nudging the screen out with a sharp object such as a pairing knife.
Then in the handle was where the problem lay with mine. There was a plastic knob which is recessed in the handle. Leave the hose connected and pull it out until it is stretched or have a helper, then press on that small knob, pull and the whole inside will pull out. There is another filter in there. I was able to take mine apart and clean it, yes it does pop apart but be careful. In assembling mine I just left out the second filter totally.
I guess in hindsite you wouldn't have to actually take the whole handle apart if one has a 90 degree tool to pull out the yellow plastic piece. I used an allen wrench and pulled. Cleaned it with a small needle.

Works better than new!

The shower only runs hot water no matter where the handle is turned...even on the cold setting.

You need to replace the mixing valve. It's not terribly hard to do, if you have some tools and, if the valve is not stuck in the fixture. Here's a video on how to replace it. Take note of how the tabs on the valve are positioned so you can put it in the same way it came out. If cold and hot water are reversed, you need to take valve back out and rotate 180 deg. and put back in:

This is assuming you have hot water elsewhere in the house and not ot the shower. Check to make sure you have hot water at other faucets.

Leeking from top when on

if we are talking about a faucet then your problem is call the packing nut. sometimes the packing nut cracks or after so many time the faucet been open it just gets wear so what i recommend you to do is turn water off down under the sink and take a screw driver to remove handle, then with a pair of chanalocks remove trim and stem note: make sure stem is in on positiion if not in on position the treats on the faucet may cross treat and then you will have to replace the faucet so dont forget before you star taking it apart turn it off and star removing everything on the top, i will just replace the stem and you problem will be fix. but if you want to try a cheaper solution that may work just remove the handle and the trim and with the chanalocks adjust the packing nut that will be the nut on top of the stem right below the handle and tested.

The hot water stops coming out of faucet

if this is the faucet in picture, turn off water, pull out cartridge and inspect for any debris in cartridge or valve body, if not, turn on hot water to see if water is getting through valve body. May have kinked line or debris from or in angle stop line.

The screws remove the handle. After the handle is removed their are little plastic like gears to limit th ehot watr. Relocate the gear ring for more hot water.

Moen Bath Tub Faucet

Hi varn4620,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You had to replace the faucet in the tub due to a broken plastic piece in valve stem. Bought a Moen ripped the wall out and put new faucet in. Went good untill we turned the water on and the shower rained on us. Tightened everything you could find to tighten .Every time the water is turned on the shower rains. Can this be fixed or is the faucet broken?

Is this new faudet a single handle? If so I"ve had this experience also. Most of the time it's because the guts were not lined up properly at the factory. You may have to play with it a bit.
Turn off the water and take the handle off and remove the sleave, remove and rotate the guts. Try 90' at a time. Turn water on to try it. Useually one of the other 3 positions will be right. The correct position is there, but it may take time to find it.
