Propane is not flowing

It seems after about 1/4 of the propane is gone ,,the propane stops flowing completly,,I dont seea leak or a bad connection at all

Why does my 1996 buick roadmaster have rough idling and missing?


I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, BUT... it\'s obvious that these corrections you\'ve made [lots of $$$$$] have nothing to do with your problem.



Quite OFTEN idle and low speed engine performance problems are CAUSED by LEAKS in the VACUUM lines/system!!!!!



As a vehicle ages, summer heat, as well as engine heat, will cause the rubber or plastic of vacuum lines to deteriorate and either crack or become loose in their connection to nipples and tees in the vacuum system. This allows EXTRA AIR into the engine.



In the early stages of this process, the engine computer will be able to correct for the EXTRA AIR being sucked into the system.



However, as the air leakage increases with time and heat, the computer cannot fully correct, and thus engine performance suffers.



One fix is to replace all vacuum system components, BUT... that will COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS!!!!!



The way I have used to FIND vacuum leaks is to use a TINY PLUME of Propane from a small torch.



With the engine idling, gently open the Propane torch valve, "cracked" open just enough to be able to smell the Propane [DO NOT IGNITE/light the Propane, we only want a VERY small amount of gas, but NO FLAME!!!!!].



Then, apply the invisible tiny jet of Propane to EACH connection point in the vacuum system, while the engine is idling.



The engine idle speed [RPM] and sound should remain unchanged IF there is no leak at that connection.



HOWEVER, IF there IS a LEAK, the engine idle RPM and sound will change, and this is indicative of a leak at that point.



Once, when out of Propane, I substituted WD-40, and that worked also!



I suspect that any gas, either a combustible fuel gas, OR even a non-combustible gas would work because either would change the air [Oxygen] to vehicle fuel ratio, thus changing the idle RPM.

1991 Ford Mustang 5.0 L HO, had been setting up for 10 yrs. cranked & ran good a few trips around the block, and then stopped idleing or running smooth under 2,000 RPM. Could it be the Mass Air censor?


Mass air flow would probably shut you down. You could clean Mass Air Flow Sensor and see what happens.Try scanning for codes then looking for vacuum leaks. Use a propane tank with a gauged nozzle to help look for vacuum leaks.

2000 denali seems to idle high at a complete stop, wants to"go" but gauges dont move while doing this?


you may have an intake leak (vacuum leak) somewhere or ldle contol motor gummed up or mass air flow sensor has dirt build up on the front of the resistors

Brakes seem to "let up" when trying to come to a complete stop, does not do it when only slowing, like during highway driving


It sounds like you may have a vacuum leak. The brake booster stores enough vacuum to give you pedal assist when stopping. The supply is not unlimited. Sometimes there is a cannister to increase the reserve and the cannisters look like a coffee cans and rust through. Or the brake booster (big round thing) behind the master cylinder can leak. There is also a valve on the supply line which can leak.

To test these areas technicians use a gas like propane while the engine is running and use a hose to route the gas around the seams of the brake booster, supply valve, and backup cannister I mentioned.

When the gas is drawn into the engine, the rpm will increase and you will know there is a leak. The propane will not hurt the engine and some states check emmisions with propane as well.

You may want to do a vacuum test of the engine to see if it is putting out enough to give you good braking.

My grill does not come up to the proper temperature. There is nothing that seems to restrict the gas flow. There is a sputter sounds so I think the gas feed is restricted. Can you help or suggest what may...


Check to see if the fuel hose is bent or kinked.
• Make sure the grill area is clear of dust.
• Make sure the burner and orifice are clean.
• Check for spiders and insects.
• The regulator has a safety device that restricts the flow of gas in the event of a leak. This safety device can be triggered without a gas leak. To reset the safety device, turn all burners "OFF" and close the Liquid Propane cylinder valve. Disconnect the regulator from the Liquid Propane cylinder and wait 1 minute. Reconnect the regulator to the Liquid Propane cylinder and slowly open the valve until the valve is fully open. Light all burners and observe the temperature.

The regulator has a hole in it. For gods sake be careful when you are playing around with it, because LPG is heavier than air, we had a leak in our cellar and the fire brigade actually carried it out in buckets! NO joke.They just sprayed a mist of dye over the gas and you could actually see it going down. The gas provider may have come and empty your gas bunker if you have one, or open it and let it dissipate in the open air. Even if you only have a cill on the step of 3", sweep it out like its water. Then change the regulator. Be careful, use pleanty of ptfe tape on the ouutlet side of the regulator to eliminate the risk of further leaks.

Check the mass air flow sensor (clean both heated wires with carb cleaner and Q-tip). Remember...cleaning does not always work...sometimes they are actually bad. Also check map sensor. Check for vacuum leaks at all hoses and fittings. If engine rpm drops sufficiently, engine vacuum will drop which may have caused a/c malfunction (controls work with vacuum signal) so I wouldn't worry about that 'till the run problem is dealt with.

Some times high setting is low sometimes its high

If the heat output from the burner(s) seem abnormally low, it may be caused
by the regulator flow-limiting device being activated by a leak in the gas
system, or improper lighting procedures. If this is suspected, shut off the
cylinder valve and all burner valves. Perform a leak test to determine if a leak
has caused the flow-limiting device to activate. If the leak test is negative,
then carefully follow the lighting procedures step-by-step, ensuring all valves
(including tank) are off before starting.

Slight propane leak in JDC8536


gas is not in the diy domain as it is more deadly than electricity
call in a gas fitter who will have a gas sniffer to determine the exact position of the leak and carry out the repair
by the time you can smell the gas , it is already at the explosive mix with the air
