You sahouldn't have to add them, Turn the unit off and restart it it should find the sensors and liust them. Then all you need to do is njhame them and set6 thyeir on/off time function to control exit entry on movement sensors or light sensors etc. Have you got the manual? There is a complete rundown to programming trhe sensors once they are registerd by the unit

How do I turn the unit on and off?

  • dennis bullard Jun 05, 2010

I presume this is hard wired with the battery backup being inbetween the ac and the unit. Remove the BLACK wire first then the RED wire. Makes ure all the sensors are connected Then Replace the RED wire then the BLACK on. This effectivly resets the unit.

You did not say whether you had the manual. I have one here....but i will need your email to send it.

I did that too, and plugged the wires back in the order you mentioned. I wanted to turn the chime on, and I get the prompt again: "Option not available." What the heck am I doing wrong???????????

The reason you are getting "function not available" is that you entered the Master Access Code or an Access Code rather than one of the Utility Access Codes. Check the installation manual for the meanings of the different access code types. All programming functions are only available if you enter Utility Access Code 1.

here is a link to the manual for the alarm.
i tried to post this to you earlier, but it may not have posted.
i cannot see where you have to add the sensors in the method you stated, maybe once they're connected you just need to run the test.
page 20 has a chart that shows how you can proceed with the "add" and then "sensor" commands, but it does not elaborate as to what would be a normal outcome.
i suggest checking that the sensors are all hooked up correctly and if so, try hooking them up one at a time and maybe you can find which one is causing the error.

Hello I have a simon 3 and need to reset the master code, I dont have the old code. What can I do to start using the system again

You can change the master code only if you have the installer code. If you don't have the installer code, the only way I know of to reset the master code is to reset it to factory defaults. This does mean that you will have to completely re-progam the system. I would document as much stuff as you can from the display before resetting it. If you don't have a copy of the installation manual I am providing a link below. Hope this helps.

How do i program a keychain and the smoke dector

to program any new sensors first you must access the installer menu by opening the front cover and using the red buttons typing in the installers code,(4321) is the default code. once that is done press the add button, then the sensor/remote button, then trip sensor(keyfob by pressing both the lock and unlock buttons together until the system beeps) or (removing the smoke detector from the base until it beeps). Once the sensor has been learned it will say keychain remote, press the sensor/remote button repeatedly until it says the correct location, then press done. then enter group code 01 for the keyfob and 26 for the smoke detector. then done.

GE Simon reset

In order to do this, you must have the "installer code". This is not to be confused with your master code which you use to disarm your system. Once you have this code, enter it when prompted, press delete, press sensors, when proper sensor is announced press done to accept, system announces that sensor "x" has been deleted. There is a default "installer code" (1234 or 4321) but many suppliers such as ADT change it to prevent owner tampering.

GE Simon 3 Add or Change a Sensor to my system?

You need to use an installer code to add/remove sensors. Depending on what number of digits your alarm code is set for will determine the number for the intaller code. Look in the installer manual for the code. Then follow these steps:

Open the panel.
Key in installer coe
Select Add
Select Sensor/Remote
Activate the sensor you want to add. Some sensors have a button, some have to opened to activate.
Choose sensor name and group. Groups are listed in the manual. Basically, if you want the sensor to arm when the doors arm (such as for a window sensor or door sensor) put it in group 10 or 13. If it's a smoke sensor, group 26; motion detector, group 17 and keyfob, group 01.
Press done when finished and run the test to make sure the system is reading the sensor.
